Alright, Nikole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.

My family and I were on food stamps for almost 10 years. We were broke, exhausted, and overwhelmed. It seemed no matter how hard we worked or how many hours we logged, we came up shorter every single year. It felt like a sick joke.

Then I learned about life coaching, and something in my soul lit up. Without knowing anything about personal development, something in me said to find out more. So I started reading personal development books and learned for the first time that our realities are created from the inside out. That I had the power to change my reality all along. So I hired a life coach and began doing just that – changing the way I think, feel, and show up, which slowly but surely began to change my life.

Life coaching was so impactful and transformative for me, that I ended up starting my own life coaching business. I began to view my passions and talent from a business lens and learned how to monetize who I am and what I do best. Over time, I began to grow my coaching business. I went from my first $99/month to my first $10,000/month within 9 months of starting my business. I knew I was onto something!

I committed to becoming the best life coach possible. I was committed to delivering life changing content for my digital courses, supporting my 1:1 clients powerfully, and continuing to grow and scale my business. I hired coaches I wanted to emulate, even when the cost of investment was a scary amount.

I remember in 2020, my coaching income was declining month after month. Nothing I did could raise it up. Then my marriage imploded and I found myself navigating an unexpected and heart breaking divorce. Then Covid hit and I now had my 3 kids home that I had to homeschool alongside of trying to run my business while going through a divorce. It felt like everything in my life was falling apart. I was scared, overwhelmed, and losing money.

Then I learned about a mastermind where I could learn how to blow up my business by getting media exposure. The investment was $10,000. It felt foolish to spend $10,000 when I was running out of money, but taking risks is what got me here, and I was willing to take another risk as scary as it was.

I paid the money, joined the mastermind, learned the material, implemented like crazy, and sure enough, my business blew up “overnight”. I had my first $100,000 month just one month after joining that mastermind.

I made a million dollars in just over one year. It was life-changing. But it didn’t come without tears, fear, willing to take risks, and trusting the unknown.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m Nikole Mitchell, and I went from food stamps to seven figures following my pleasure. I learned to do what I love and monetize it like crazy. I forego what others expected of me and I did exactly what I wanted to do, even when it defied conventional wisdom.

On my social media, I wear sexy clothes and I post coaching content. My followers and clients eat it up. They look at me being sexy and being taken seriously, being a model and a mother, and they want their own version of that for themselves.

Men, women, and queer folx hire me to help them be fully expressed, monetize who they are and what they do, and scale their business to multiple six and seven figures. My clients tend to make the most money they’ve ever made while working with me, by making subtle but significant tweaks in their business, that makes them more money in less time. I absolutely love when they get these results. They freak out with excitement; I grin with a wink because I knew that was going to happen all along.

I work 1:1 with clients, have a membership and mastermind, teach digital courses, and serve clients all around the world. I always tell people, when you’re ready for your wildest dreams to come true, I am the mentor for you.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

You can have the best service or product in the world, but if no one knows about you, it doesn’t matter. Your job is to get seen by the right people. This is why I love media. TV, podcasts, magazines, radio, etc are all powerful and effective ways to get your name and business in front of the masses, and more importantly, the right people.

Getting media exposure is quite simple when you learn the steps needed to get the media’s attention. Once you have their attention, you have their platform, which exposes you to their audience, which will blow up your following and your income.

So I made sure to master the art of getting media exposure, and that’s what blew up my following from 10,000 to 250,000 and what got me from $10,000 months to $100,000 months. To get media exposure, you need to create an eye-catching one sentence summary of who you are or what you do, pitch it to media outlets, and follow up a couple times afterwards. This is how I continue to grow my following and my income.

If you want to blow up your social media following and more importantly, your income, learning how to get media exposure is the most important thing you can do for your business. And this is what I help my clients do.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I lived my life pleasing others and being who they needed me to be. I was a “good girl”. A good wife, a good mother, a good
friend. And while I’m a good person, I’m also a wild card. I’m spicy. I’m polarizing. I love money. I love being in the spotlight. And for whatever reason, people think a good girl can’t love those things or be that way.

So I eventually gathered the courage to stop being who others wanted me to be and decided to be my full, wild, polarizing self. And while it did cost me a lot of my personal and close relationships, it set me free to make a lot of money doing what I love and being my true self. It also helped me draw in my ideal audience and serve my dream clients.

Now I help my clients be fully-expressed and be massively compensated for it. This is way more fulfilling, sustainable, and lucrative than staying in a career you hate or limits how much you can be yourself.
