We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikole De La Mer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikole, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I was starting out, I had no idea how to start a business. But I knew I had to change to grow. I was looking at a space, and didn’t have the money, so I asked the Universe to give me the money for the space. 2 days later, I received a check for the amount I needed from a company I had been fighting with for months. I took that, .my last 500, 60 day term inventory, thrift store Furnishings and jumped in with both feet.

Nikole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been an intuitive all my life. It has saved my life and others countless times. When a devastating car accident changed my corporate career path I turned to my talents in order to sustain me. It was pretty rough going, talking to the dead, cleansing unfriendly houses and removing trauma energy from people with extreme experiences can definitely raise eyebrows, create discord and encounter skepticism. However as my talents, reputation and services grew…I gained acceptance and real world respect with my honest and different approach. When I added door art, pendulums and other intuitive art services a whole other world opened up. A reputation as a straight shooting and direct practitioner has kept me in business as a psychic and a healer through the toughest times.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The day my store burned down was one of the toughest days in my history. I woke up early to multiple texts and messages from my clients and staff asking me if I knew my store was burning down along with several residences and businesses on a July evening in 2021.
My attempt to recreate my beloved and popular botanika store, did not work as the insurance barely paid the expenses of opening. Then a car accident disabled me and a divorce crippled me all before 2021 was ended.
I lick my wounds, railed at the world and then recreated myself, my brand and audience as a fair centric, house calling and coworking space healer and work primarily with women who have deep, unresolved trauma and confidence issues. And the woman/womb wound. This is my job. Healing women, the Feminine and myself one reading or healing at a time.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
The education and training I’ve had through my own life and traumas give me the experience and healing my clients need from a person who has been there.
Writing a book about it. To be out in next month or so.
