Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikolas Macaluso. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nikolas thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Throughout the years as a child I’ve always been naturally drawn to the idea of making music. I started playing guitar with my friends and writing lyrics for songs. In 2012 at about age 14 I started getting into music production, making beats and recording tracks and instantly fell in love with it. From there I had spend pretty much every day working on getting better and learning how to take the musical vision from my head and make it a reality. When I was about 16/17 is when I decided I wanted to pursue music seriously as a career. Since then I’ve been working diligently to further my knowledge, build by brand, and develop a sound that encapsulates me!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
From a young age I’ve always been into making music and writing songs, as well as a vast interest in technology and electronics. When I first discovered the possibility of being able to produce music electronically on a computer I felt as thought I had found something that was truly made for me, and since then I’ve been hooked. When I was in high school I had taken a music production and film/graphic design course which really helped me to see how large of a scope this kind of industry is and how it can work interchangeably with others. With that in mind I started learning how to graphic design, and edit videos in order to help build my music brand. I started self releasing dubstep music under my first serious music project GVTOR in 2019 as well as started to network with other artist and creatives. I released my first dubstep ep Keepers of The Dark in 2022 with the label So Called Sound. That helped me to establish more connections with other artists in the industry and further develop my brand as an artist. Another huge milestone was having songs of mine played by Excision. I’ve played numerous local shows since the start of my dubstep project in 2019 as well as having the opportunity to play shows in support for artists like Codd Dubz, OG Nixon, Chibs, Shivers, and more. I also started making visuals and graphic designing in the background to help elevate the experience at my live shows. In 2025 I debuted my pop music project GDBYE releasing the album HELLO AND GDBYE. My current goals are to keep pushing my career forward by continuing to play live events, releasing music, and perfecting my craft to make the entire experience as awesome as possible!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my opinion the best way to support artists and music as a whole is word of mouth and to have an open mind. Never be afraid to like what you like, or experience something new and naturally that will tie in with you sharing that interest end experience with others
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to express myself the way I like! Having the option to make the music I want to listen to plays a huge role in my artist fulfillment. I also find fulfillment in making others happy, spreading positivity and laughter, and being able to share fun experiences with others all of which I’m also able to achieve through music
