We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nikki Steinsapir. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nikki below.
Alright, Nikki thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
The first client Grow ABA attained is actually through an instagram story we posted letting our followers know we are beginning to provide services. The individual was hesitant on beginning ABA therapy for her child based on previous things she had heard. She called us and let us know her concerns. We talked and provided information regarding our philosophies- years later, the progress made by the child and family is significant and has improved the quality of their lives for the better! A lot of Grow ABA’s initial clients came from connecting with likeminded local professionals- don’t underestimate the power of a simple cold-call!

Nikki , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Nikki Steinsapir and I am the cofounder of Grow ABA. Grow ABA is a behavioral health provider. By trade, I am an attorney but I worked at one of the largest healthcare organizations in America. I came to learn about ABA and the ins and outs of the business but also the clinical side. I spoke to families, parents, and providers. I saw the gaps within the space- quality of providers and lack of providers, with thousands of kids sitting on a waitlist for services. When I learned about the actual clinical benefits of ABA, I became obsessed with the field. I decided to start Grow ABA to be a hands-on provider dedicated to providing life-changing strategies (that work!) to families.
I never intended to work in healthcare or stay in field but now I cannot imagine myself anywhere else.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Effective communication. When parents have a concern related to their childs behavior, it is important for us to be able to listen, respond at an appropriate time, and be quick to get in touch with them. We understand this and regardless of whether or not a Client moves forwards with services, it is important to communicate. Pick up the phone, respond to emails, answer questions, etc.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
On a small scale, I pivot daily! Cancellations, schedule shifts, emergencies that need attention all are moments that require you to pivot. I try to remain open to the possibility that things may change any moment and a flexible mindset is important.
On a larger scale, I had to pivot my career when I had children. I also pivoted again once my children grew a bit and entered a new stage. Sometimes my four year old asks me, ” Mom what do you want to be when you grow up?” It’s funny because to a certain degree I am “grown,” but also a great reminder that you can always pivot, at any time.
