We recently connected with Nikki Sharp and have shared our conversation below.
Nikki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you think about spending on things like coffee when times are tough?
One thing I’ve learned is that to grow your business and grow within yourself, it’s necessary to invest even when it’s uncomfortable. Over the past few years we’ve all felt challenging times in our businesses, moments where it feels on the rise and total uncertainty. What I’ve come to realize is that when I think something is “impossible,” or that I won’t have enough funds to do whatever project I want to, that’s when I MUST do it.
I take a different mindset than many during uncertain times. While most companies cut back, that’s when I like to hire people, inject cash into marketing, sales, and go full throttle to making my business known. I’m not scared of failure, quite the opposite. I learn from everything I do, and when others are scared, that’s when I find confidence.
Rencelty I challenged myself mentally (as a decision always starts in the mind) to go to a 6-day event with Tony Robbins. This was a huge investment in myself, however that’s where the story begins. I met a new friend there who introduced me to a marketing company that after one call, I decided to sign on with.
Money did feel tight and in theory, or most people’s viewpoint, I should have saved the money as cash. But a business that wants to exceed must be willing to push boundaries. That’s what I did, a big cash expensive in a moment that should have been “lean” and yet, it’s been one of the best decisions for my business.
I very much recommend looking at where you’re spending and what you consider investing. Taking a step back to reflect on the two and pool funds to grow your b business, or your own self development will always pay back dividends far more than material possessions.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Transformation Coach who specializes in helping women identify blocks in their life (the fears that hold them back) and overcoming them through my 1:1 coaching and Ultimate Transformation Program.
I have been in the wellness/health industry for 10 years, which I became passionate about during a time when I had two eating disorders. I suffered from these, body dis-morphia, insomnia, chronic acne, and it seemed like no matter what I tried, nothing worked to get me better. And so I went on a multi-year journey to overcome the challenges I faced, and during my healing I shared what I learned with my community on Instagram. In 2013 I wrote a detox program called “The 5-Day Detox” which went on to sell 100,000 copies as an ebook worldwide.
The success was due to the fact it was the only product on the market that was not expensive (it was $8 to purchase the ebook) and was filled with recipes that were inexpensive to purchase the food at stores, while giving you tremendous results in a short time frame. Women lose up to 10lbs in the 5 days, men 12lbs, along with reduced bloating, inflammation, increased energy, sleep, and joyfulness.
I went on to turn this into an mobile app, which went number 1 in six countries, as well as turning it into a book with Random House, followed by my second one “Meal Prep Your Way to Weight Loss.”
I currently coach 1:1 clients for my bespoke five month program, help women overcome fears in order to live a life of their dreams through the Ultimate Transformation Program (which begins March 18, 2023), and I’m the podcast host of A Sharper Life.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When you look at my Instagram, it can appear that I “have it all.” I travel the world, experience all this life has to offer, I work for myself and have passion for my business.
And yet, it has taken years of being turned down, agencies not knowing what it is that I “do” and having to continuously create a path for myself.
When I signed a two-book deal with Random House, I was ecstatic. And yet, when it came time to write the second one, they wanted to pull out and drop me. Talk about feeling like a failure. My agent went back and forth and I ultimately wrote it, but it took much of the passion out, to know your book publisher isn’t fully behind you. But that’s just one of many cases where I’ve persevered and not let someones viewpoint take me down.
I’m continuously learning, growing, and looking for the positive in what I do. A lesson I learned a long time ago is that people will judge you from the outside, but the more you can be authentic and honest about life, your business and what you go through, you’ll end up gaining more respect in your industry and more clients will want to work with you.
This is why I share often about the trials I go through, such as recently putting my podcast on hold because I was feeling so burnt out from it. But I needed to take a break, even though it challenged the triggers of feeling like a failure once again. Through the break I was able to come back feeling more joyful and excited to share my knowledge with my audience.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started my account @nikkisharp in 2013 as a private diary for me to share about my eating disorders and healing. I’d post headless body pics of myself, talking about my struggles and being very honest about something most people are too scared to talk about. I’d also post “fitspo” images of toned girls I’d get from pinterest and Tumblr and repost on Instagram.
Along with sharing my meals to keep myself accountable and inspirational quotes, my account began to grow. At this time, Instagram was a very collaborative place and others with similar follower count and I would shout each other out, posting why we recommend out followers check out the other’s page. Between doing something new and different (no one was taking photos from another social channel) and posting them, and being very authentic and vulnerable, I found a winning combination that became the basis of my brand and everything I do on social media to this day.
