Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Montana. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nikki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I pay attention my peers/ mentors who are successful within various creative fields, and I find that an important ingredient to their success is maintaining consistent & constant motion forward with anything to get results. Just as with anything in life: if you’re not active with putting in effort for anything there are no fruits to bear, stagnant water doesn’t not flow. Life is a constant forward motion, and for me as a creative, there are always an infinite amount of ideas I can make come to life. Yet, this is the discipline I am learning to continue to earn a full time living from my creative work…for my lifetime at that.
I feel where I’m at in life and with my career is continuing to build the foundations and really sharpening the most important factors to create longterm success: discipline, motivation, direction and so on.
I know it is more than possible to create the life you desire, but a rewarding life will always be consistent of hard work and things that some are not ready to take on.
I do know that I will achieve that longterm success and I will make a lifelong living off of my creations within music, writing, acting and so on. I’m in a very exciting beggining of my life. and you can do it too!
Nikki, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Nikki Montana, I am a DJ and BIG creative. People in college started calling me Montana because they thought it was crazy that I’m actually from Montana. My soul is fulfilled through music and creating, so after I sold everything I had I moved to start college at Full Sail University in Florida. Initially I wanted to become an artist manager, yet as time passed I felt DJ’ing would be a great foundational asset for me and my career.
In terms of my me personally, I find it hard to really describe myself because I am so many things, and so many different versions of me exist within every person that sees me or actually knows my spirit.
I’m so proud of who I’ve become at this very moment, and who I’m becoming. I finally feel that I’ve been generating this amazing foundation for myself. I have so much more confidence and direction than I’ve had ..ever, and I know it’s only going get better. Its that turning point in my later 20’s where, I’ve been through a substantial amount of good and bad experiences to where I have began to see the algorithm of things (for the most part) and am able to follow a strategic plan. Yet, I am confident that really I have soooo much more to learn in this life. The most important thing I consistently do is stay fearless and remain confident and continue to build a better work ethic everyday. See the vision, create a plan and go after it everyday until you get it. Nothing less than the hunger and action towards your dreams.
I’ve mentioned before that nothing is easy though, but I constantly remind myself to live in the present moment, that’s where the magic is. I’ve had many ups and downs and times where I am questioning my passions, my progress and what I’m doing with my life. But…you will know what’s for you and what makes you come alive. You can’t run from your desires.. they will follow you everywhere you go!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I would have gotten out more and networked with a purpose. Although there is a reason for everything and timing as well, but I know that being around the right people and places is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your career. You are who you surround yourself with. It is so important for me to build long-term, genuine relationships .. with people who are doing amazing things in their lives and creating that supportive foundation.
If you feel lost In where to find these people and places, just look into events or businesses that correlate to the things you love and begin to immerse yourself into those communities and you’ll meet people who you’re supposed to.
Ask and you shall receive.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My biggest goal is lifelong, a legacy. To be living and surrounded by the art and creations myself and other creative friends make… at the highest frequencies. To do whatever I want whenever I want and help others, especially kids, make their dreams come to life ..being and inspiration to others through my experiences… This art is my life.
