We were lucky to catch up with Nikki Goree recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nikki thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission of Queens Over Anxiety is : Empowering women with anxiety to build self confidence through support and advocacy. This is very important to me because of my own struggles with anxiety. I did not know how to request support without feeling like a failure. I wanted to appear perfect but not getting help created a war inside of myself. A few years after having my second son I knew I had reached my capacity of handling those emotions on my own. Once I got the help I needed it motivated me to be that help for another woman. This is how Queens Over Anxiety INC was created.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Nikki Goree and I am a license baccalaureate social worker in the state of Texas. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years and have two sons. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder in 2017 and wanted to find a support group to not feel alone. After research most of the groups were therapy led sessions. I already had a therapist and wasn’t looking for more clinical assistance. I wanted to be able to do care free activities with women who struggled in the same way as I did. After not finding a group to fit my needs I decided to create a non-profit naming it Queens Over Anxiety INC. It is for all women struggling with anxiety. It is different from other organizations because the focus is not on therapy but more about building supportive relationships. I am most proud of the speaking engagements that have provided the opportunity to speak about anxiety and erasing the negative stigma attached to it. My hope is when I women leaves a Queens Over Anxiety event she will feel like she has a community cheering her on.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I have done several speaking engagements and had women join my email list or follow my social media pages. I also have other women share my content to their social media pages.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I post almost daily on my social media accounts encouraging words and provide needed resources. This reaches people not just in my state of Texas but in the world.
