Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Gal . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nikki , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is never ending. It is important to recognize in any circumstance, business affiliation or not, that reaching success TAKES TIME. Whether you have a product/idea that reaches quickly overnight or a product/idea that reaches slowly over the course of a year, you have to take steps back to understand that it is all a balancing process. No amount of success ever came without the process of balance combined with thinking. Brain work alongside knowing how to manage your product, are your ultimate tools to reaching any level of success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the industry of graphic design when I was 20 years old. You might think that I was a little young to be running a business all on my own, and trust me thinking back, I was. It was 2019, and I had just ended a professional modeling career years prior in hopes to find a creative outlet that inspired me. Side note- if you are not pursuing an outlet that inspires you think again, it is not worth your time or your energy. Knowing that I had an art background, I found myself dabbling around Adobe Illustrator to occupy my time in hopes for something bigger. The thought of starting or owning a company at that time was never in the picture for me, I never in 1 million years thought that my art would ever become a reality. A friend of mine who happened to be a well-known Instagram influencer reached out to me, in hopes that I could create a social media portrait logo for her. This was my first commissioned piece ever and I can honestly say that it was definitely not my best work. When she posted it, the public’s reaction was something I would’ve never imagined. Her inbox was full, my inbox was full, and let’s just say I did not know what to do. People went wild, and instantly wanted to get their hands on one of my digital designs. In that moment that’s when I knew I had a product, a signature style of my own, as well as a business to start. It was my time. I was onto the next journey of my life; a graphic artist. See Thru Nikki was born. See Thru Nikki offers portrait/logo designs as well as digital animation creations. I have helped clients around the world visions come to LIFE. I know the exact feeling of having an image in your mind and not knowing how to execute it or make it become real. That’s my job. Clients come to me with their desired vision for their companies and I CREATE that vision. It’s always a proud moment taking that time to see someone’s company come together with the help of See Thru Nikki, but also helping someone reach their creative destination as well is truly an amazing thing to witness. No idea or level of creativity is ever too small, IT CAN HAPPEN.
Fast forward to 2022, in addition to spreading the message of creativity within my clients, See Thru Nikki has also spread creativity in conclusion to my works being seen in People Magazine, TMZ, Page Six, as well as ABC News’ morning program, Good Morning America. Creativity is HEARD.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
With starting a company at only 20 years old, I had to learn a lot. Not only about running a company, but about myself. Prior to opening and operating See Thru Nikki, I had no business experience whatsoever. Think of it like this- you are on a roller coaster alone going 80 mph, but there is no stop button. And that’s what it was, my business is growing quickly gaining momentum, and I could not stop. Stopping was not an option for me. So what did I do? I kept going. I stayed up late listening to business podcasts on how to better and perfect my business/craft, and make it into what I dreamt of it to be today. I spent hours reading articles from other business owners, both big and small. And that’s where the brain work kicked in. Even though I was in a tough position not knowing where to turn, I had to keep going while looking for guidance. Researching, reinventing and rediscovering PAYS OFF. And even though my company has grown into beyond what I dreamt of it becoming, I STILL READ. You can never reach a point of not wanting to learn, it’s what will keep you and your company alive.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media can either make you or break you, it has a 50/50 effect. But, isn’t that with anything? Sure but, learning to build and balance a steady presence on social media can be beyond helpful for anyone’s business. I don’t like to view social media from a detrimental standpoint, it has a nature of its own. And that nature we have to learn to accept. The social media journey of See Thru Nikki has been uphill, and I am personally very grateful for that. But along with the uphill growth, it is important to recognize that any growth is not taken for granted, especially in regards to social media.
Along with my clients being beyond supportive of myself and my work by posting and sharing via social media, it is also important for me to share my work as well. Giving clients or potential clients a view of your work via social media gives them an idea of who you are, what your brand represents, how your brand operates, and your brand’s overall vibe. And it will either be a hit or a miss. But hey, that’s the nature of social media, it is full of hits and misses.
But of course, we are going to want to strive for more hits rather than misses.
Here are some of my tips/advice on gaining a steady social media presence:
1. Be consistent. Actively posting enough so that you will be seen, good & consistent content is key.
2. Know your brand inside out. Before making a post, think about your brand and what it represents. Remember, your brand is not a reflection of you, but rather what you want your brand to be.
3. Connect with others. If someone reaches out to you, reply back to them! This will show that your brand is alert, reliable and ready.
