We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikki Frustere a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikki, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
Whether you’re doing business with someone or they’re considering doing business with you, like any personal relationship, good working relationships are built on mutual respect, trust and appreciation. I feel lucky to work in an industry where we’re all on a team working toward a celebration, so that helps to fostor fun working relationships that can even lead to lasting friendships. Genuine relationships in business can make all the difference when working under pressure or if things go wrong. When it comes to my clients, I like to take a personal approach and really get to know their goals so I can anticipate their expectations and ease their fears. It’s the best feeling in the world to know you’ve helped your client enjoy the event instead of worry over it. The trust my clients put in me means the world, so I usually always try to send a personalized ‘thank you’ gift to let them know I appreciate their business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Nikki Frustere and I’ve been working as a professional event planner within the entertainment industry and beyond for over 15 years, producing large & small scale entertainment industry events and private celebrations for some of the nation’s top firms and exclusive clients. After graduating with honors in Journalism & Psychology, I worked at various production companies throughout most of my career in Los Angeles before finally starting my own event planning business. It was a long journey but definitely worth it.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We all had to pivot during the pandemic and I think it put a magnifying glass on all our lives and got us to really think about the directions our lives were going and whether we wanted to continue on that path or make a change. Life is about how we handle change and although it can be scary, sometimes it’s the only way to truly discover your path.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Putting yourself out there isn’t always easy, but it’s crucial when starting your own business. Ultimately, you are your brand, and when you can learn how to communicate clearly and enjoy meeting new people, there’s no limit to how far your business can expand. Making real relationships with people in your industry is a key way to keep up to date on business trends and opportunities.
