We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikki Dotson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikki , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
I like to think of my customers as family and treat them as such. Every order I send out comes with a handwritten thank you note for your love and support. Also if you are a repeat customer, I like to throw in freebies for you to try. Maybe something you wouldn’t typically order so you can see what other products awaken your senses. I am open to feedback and like to keep an open line of communication for my customers. I think it makes my customers feel like they can trust me and know that they can feel confident in connecting with me if there is anything they would like to see or have questions about.

Nikki , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I specialize in making soaps and bath treats. I have different soaps that cater to different needs. The categories of my products are broken down into different “cabinets” on my website. The medicine cabinet is going to have herbal soaps that tailor more to relaxation. The kitchen cabinet is going to have food-inspired products with a sweet scent, while something from the garden is going to have floral, earthy-based products. I would say my favorite products to make and ones that I am most proud of are my Bath Truffles and Honeycomb Hideout soap.
Bath truffles are a mix of a bubble bar and a bath bomb. They are packed with luxurious butters and oils. Leaving your skin feeling loved afterwards. The Honeycomb Hideout soap has Cinnamon, Apricot oil, Honey, and Jasmine essential oil, with the scent of warm milk and honey. What sets The Majestic Cabinet LLC apart from others is that all our products are made with intention, love, and nothing but the best ingredients. We take pride in customer service. I like to make sure every customer feels like they are family. We are also this year expanding our product catalog and will have scrubs, and candles available soon.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I am still working on building a greater audience on social media via different platforms. I started with a business Facebook page and added friends and family from my personal Facebook page. Then I moved over to Instagram taking the same approach. After I had those two pages essentially functioning as one, I started marketing with the days of the week and what each day looks like to me from a positive aspect. I then started to integrate my products into “Wind down Wednesday” and “Self-care Sundays”. I also use hashtags to help me reach my target audience. My advice for just starting to build a presence online is consistency. I notice that the more you post and are routine, the better the response.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think being authentic, honest, and intentional has guided me in building a reputation. I feel word of mouth is a very big part of it. As well as the way I conduct myself online being that my store is an online store. I’m mindful about the things I post and whether it aligns with me and my business. For instance, I make sure that my life/business online matches my life offline and that I am operating fully in good character. By being trustworthy, offering nothing but the best, clear/compassionate communication, being of service, and providing a full-bodied customer experience from start to finish.
