We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikki Crow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki , thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
From a young age, I was the memory-keeper among my family and friends—the one who never let a moment go unrecorded. I kept everything from photos to little mementos, even notes from high school, tucked away as treasures in my memory box. As the oldest of five, I felt a deep responsibility to preserve our moments together, and by age 11, I had my first camcorder, filming everything I could.
Fast forward a bit, I ended up in a corporate job in banking and mortgages that, over 10 years, felt like it was draining my creativity. I kept searching for something that would let me tap back into my passion for storytelling and reconnect with the feeling I had as a kid capturing little slices of life.
Meanwhile, I was working part-time jobs in the wedding industry, capturing social media videos for vendors, and eventually, I got married myself. With a small budget and a short timeline, I couldn’t afford traditional photo or video coverage. As the wedding day flew by, I felt this intense longing for a way to relive each moment, especially with loved ones, many of whom I didn’t get enough time with. After that, I knew I couldn’t be the only one who wanted these memories captured but couldn’t find a simple, candid, and intentional solution.
That’s when the idea for Keep Candid took root. I knew I could create something meaningful by blending raw, candid content filmed on an iPhone with edited mini-films that felt real & nostalgic. I wanted to give couples not only professional footage but also the ability to see and feel their day as it unfolded naturally, to capture their loved ones’ voices and smiles, those fleeting interactions that mean the most.

Hi there! I’m Nikki, a wedding content creator with a passion for capturing the candid, unscripted moments of your wedding day. I’m a naturally nostalgic person and have always been the designated “memory-keeper” in my family and friend group, constantly snapping photos, collecting mementos, and treasuring every moment. My love for storytelling began when I was 11 with my first camcorder, and it stayed with me through high school, where I developed my skills in filming and editing. For years, I dreamed of a creative career but ended up working in banking and mortgages for a decade—a stable path, but one that ultimately left me feeling disconnected from my passions.

This experience inspired me to create Keep Candid, a wedding content creation service where I use my iPhone to capture the raw, real emotions of a couple’s day, from the big moments to the quiet, in-between interactions. My goal is to offer a unique service that gives couples not only professional footage but an authentic, immersive reflection of their wedding day to keep forever.
What sets Keep Candid apart is my documentary-style approach and quick turnaround time. I deliver all the raw content within 24-48 hours, followed by a mini film and short-form edits shortly after. This way, my clients get to relive their day almost instantly. My service includes unlimited content throughout the wedding day, seamless integration with other vendors, and the option for a nostalgic Super 8 film, providing something both unfiltered and intentional.
Above all, I want my clients to feel seen and valued. Being a part of such sacred, love-filled occasions is an honor I never take for granted, and I aim to make every couple feel heard and supported throughout the process. I’m incredibly proud to create content that reflects each couple’s unique love story, with an emphasis on connection, care, and authenticity. For me, it’s about capturing memories that bring people back to those moments forever.
In my first year of business I captured 37 weddings & received nothing but 5-star reviews from all of my couples, which truly means the world to me.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building my reputation in the wedding market has been rooted in creating genuine, supportive relationships with other vendors and couples alike. From the beginning, I invested time in connecting with wedding planners, photographers, and other vendors, attending styled shoots and offering behind-the-scenes content to add value to their work as well. Through these interactions, I was able to establish a solid reputation within the local wedding community quickly.
Word of mouth and referrals have been my primary marketing drivers, and I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing network I’ve built with other wedding vendors who see the value in what I do. I believe that consistency is key, so I work hard to bring value to each couple, communicate professionally, and support the people around me. Building these genuine relationships has been, and continues to be, the foundation of my business success.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a wedding content creator is knowing I’m creating lifelong keepsakes for couples—capturing memories they’ll treasure forever. It’s incredibly meaningful to know that I’m not only documenting a wedding day but also preserving those genuine, unscripted moments between family and friends, some of which may be the last memories they have with loved ones, like grandparents.
Hearing from my couples about the joy and emotion my films bring them, and knowing they get to relive moments they may not have even noticed on the day itself, fills me with such gratitude. Being part of telling each love story is truly heartwarming, and I feel blessed every day to do this work, knowing it has lasting impact and deep value in people’s lives.
