We were lucky to catch up with Nikki Block recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nikki, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?

I cannot even describe how excited I was when I got my first brand deal. I got a DM from a company called Zazzle which made me jump up and down because I knew that brand very well. They specialize in customizable gifts but also have great wrapping paper! They originally wanted one video, but after that they signed me for two more immediately! This moment was so surreal as I realized I could bring in income from a passion of mine.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Nikki (@wrappinqueen) and I post gift wrapping content! I try to show my followers that gift wrapping can be easy and not so intimidating. There are so many tips and tricks that are very easy to execute and I like to think that posting how easy some of those tricks are that it can inspire someone to try! I know it is popular to throw gifts into a gift bag or not even wrap it and I am on a mission to show people how valuable gift wrapping can be. Some people say it’s wasteful or takes too much time, but from my perspective nothing beats giving someone a gift that is also beautifully wrapped!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I firmly believe you really need to be passionate and care about what you are posting. It can be a long process to build a following and it will definitely take time and patience. I had been posting for probably five months before I had a video go viral. But after one of my videos hit 1 million views, it motivated me to keep going and keep trying! I posted a hack on how to gift wrap a gift even when you don’t have enough wrapping paper and that boosted my following insanely overnight! I built on that and decided to not quit this journey. My piece of advice would be to not stop as long as you’re having fun… it only takes one viral video to change everything!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of my account is when I see people posting videos of themselves gift wrapping or using a video of mine as inspiration! If I can inspire one person to gift wrap and not use a gift bag, that means the world to me!
