We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikita Seal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikita, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I started my four companies back to back, with very little knowledge and virtually no financial backing. I’m not sure what I was thinking, other than “this has to work,” After being let go from my corporate job at the beginning of the pandemic, I began promoting my food truck, ZZ’s Ice Cream Puffs. Shortly after, I launched my luxury experience brand, Pretty Rolls. Then came my Air BNB, and my anxiety brand, Anxiety is a Mutha. I know that must sound like a boss life, but it was very much not. There would be days when the food truck didn’t make any money, after spending money on the donuts and ice cream for the event. I can remember being a vendor at events for Pretty Rolls and maybe selling one pack preroll cones; not even 10% of the vending fee. My faith, and unwavering belief in myself are the only things that kept – and still keep – me going.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Like a lot of us, my business was created out of necessity. I was struggling to pay my mortgage, so I decided to list my house on Air BNB. I needed it to stand out in hopes that it would book quickly, so I knew it was all in the name. And that’s how the Rockstar Unicorn was born.
At the Rockstar Unicorn, we provide experiences, in all that we do. Whether it’s a child’s birthday party, one of our signature outdoor yoga events, our 5-course dinner parties, or the luxury transportation, this is more than a stay. It’s a wellness getaway, that’s not far away.
I’m most proud of my tenacity, discipline, dedication and consistency. I will continue moving forward, regardless of the obstacle. And listen, I have hella obstacles daily. But none have ever stopped me from accomplishing the mission, and nothing ever will. I want my new extended family to know that consistency wins the race. Winners never quit. We may pivot, but we never quit.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I grew my social media by cross-promoting my businesses. More than just reposting from each business’s social media page – but trust me, I do that as well – I cross promote in every way that I can. For example, at the Rockstar Unicorn, my wifi name is “Anxiety is a Mutha,” and even the password is business related. There are Pretty Rolls stickers strategically placed around the Rockstar Unicorn. Rockstar Unicorn guests will see Anxiety is. a Mutha merchandise displayed during events. This subtle cross-promotion piques people’s interest. And that curiosity led to organic social media growth.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
In my experience, the best source of new clients is catering to the existing clients. During our events at the Rockstar Unicorn, we provide amazing customer service throughout the experience. Going above and beyond to make sure our clients (in our case, our guests) feel comfortable and seen has yielding such positive reviews that word-of-mouth brings us new guests. If you provide excellent customer service AND you have an amazing product, the word will spread quickly.
