We were lucky to catch up with Nikita G. Dennis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nikita G. , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
My nonprofit Confident on Purpose, provides an encouraging, safe place for women and young girls to love who they are, even when they feel different from others. Confident on Purpose strives to give resources to young adults who have a disability, seen or unseen to make them feel beautiful and loved.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I am a news reporter for a local TV station in Georgia, I am also the founder of Confident on Purpose which is a nonprofit I created in my dorm room in 2019, while attending Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. Confident on Purpose is a safe space encouraging women to be who you are, love your differences, and have confidence. This campaign advocates for women with impairments seen or unseen, or those who don’t have an impairment and are just seen as “different.”While raising awareness and funding to provide resources for disabled women through our platform. I am a news reporter who is visually impaired, so I felt all women who feel they are set apart from others, ,voices should be heard to let people know our differences make us unique.
I hope to speak to women and spread my testimony on the journey love myself and who I am.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a news reporter and founder of a nonprofit organization,I had to learn that my confidence and love for Christ is greater than any negativity and difficulty that comes my way. I am faced with many difficulties every single day in the career that I am in and I choose to be positive in the moment and give myself grace.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That I “can’’t” do it. In college I always thought, and was told I couldn’t be on TV because I have a lazy eye and partially blind in one eye. Knowing and believing you can do something and going after it is greater than anything. I had to learn that putting myself up for challenges that I thought were impossible could possibly be my greatest opportunity and accomplishment. And I’m doing it.
