Niki, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

I have been on social media since before instagram came out, I always enjoyed editing website urls creating graphics etc. as time went on I just built a passion for creating content filled with humor beauty and faith. I started marketing myself as Niki so complex since I signed up to Instagram back in 2011, and here I am almost 36k followers built organically and have customers in different states down with my mission and rocking my merch. SoComplex is not just a brand; it’s a community where we help you express the beautiful complexity of your true self.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Niki I was born and raised in Jersey City, I will be 37 in October. Scorpio baby and I’ve been living in diff parts of NJ for the past 7 years, working on taking my talents elsewhere. I love receiving messages from strangers saying how much my post resonated with them. It’s such a great feeling being able to be a positive influence to so many people it’s why I’ve stood on social media this long.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I actually lost my job and didn’t find employment for almost a year and at the end of it all God really revealed that what I thought I wanted was actually not as great as his plans for me. I say this all to say don’t be sad when there is confusion or redirection in your life, trust that God is moving mountains much greater.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Literally stop worrying about what everyone is doing, what’s trending and lean into just being your authentic self and your audience will find you. Try different things that interest you but always show up as your true self. When you stop focusing on the numbers that’s when you will start to notice quality over quantity is the real bag and from there you will flourish ! Just never give up on yourself and don’t be afraid to POST THAT CONTENT!
