We were lucky to catch up with Nika Watts recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nika, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
The most unexpected problems We’ve encountered in this industry is manufacturing.. One moment we think we’ve found a manufacturer that can mass produce everything we need then the next minute they either can’t deliver on time, raise the prices unexpectedly or just don’t make good quality products on a consistent basis.. Nothing is more frustrating than having to repeatedly change/employ different manufacturers..
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always been “fashionable”. Every since I was a child, I’ve always had my own sense of fashion.. I’m most comfortable in “street wear” and tennis shoes.. Black6Hearts Clothing literally was born from pain.. Being a domestic violence survivor, I wanted a way to express my pain that was also a form of therapy… After having several conversations with my partner Mtg_muzik,the rest was history… So many times I was doubtful but he encouraged and pushed me to be great. And so came the birth of Black6Hearts Clothing..
We specialize in all things street.. From hoodies, joggers, hats, jackets, shirts etc..
Our brand is unique because it has a real meaning behind it..
SERIOUSNESS,STRENGTH, POWER,AUTHORITY.LOVE and LOYALTY (6)
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’m this business, you have to be resilient. For me, that means not letting negativity get the best of me.. As with any small business, things will happen that’s out of your control. Shipments get delayed, packages get lost , unsatisfied customers, bad reviews etc.. You have to keep a level head and try your best to satisfy your customers.. I’ve also learned that not every single person is worthy of your time and won’t understand your efforts.. It comes with the industry.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Learning that all money isn’t good money.. No matter how hard one try’s, you can’t please everyone and you should not want to..
