We were lucky to catch up with Nika Bisou recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nika, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I’ve had a passion for the creative arts since I was very young. From the age of 6 or 7, I knew deep down that I wanted to pursue a professional path in art and fashion design. My after-school hours were filled with creative projects, whether it was making clothes for my Barbies using crepe paper or spending hours immersed in drawing, using water cups as makeshift heads. I would create mood boards and let my imagination run wild, envisioning a future where I would establish a successful artistic and fashion brand called NIKA BISOU. My journey into pursuing my career professionally began at the age of 15 when I started studying fashion and honing my skills in fashion illustration.

My name is Nicole Bisono, but I am also known as NIKA BISOU in the artistic world, which is also the name of my brand. I am a Dominican artist and designer based in New York. If I were to describe myself, I would say that I am a scientific, dreamy, innovative, competitive, and detail-oriented person. The unknown and the deeper meanings behind things inspire me the most. I love incorporating these elements into all of my designs and artworks, constantly exploring innovative ways to bring life to art.
Art is not just a hobby for me; it is my life. It is where I find balance and harmony within myself. It is a safe space where I feel at home, connected to the universe, and able to give and receive through creativity. I express myself through various mediums, including drawing, designing, writing, styling, and digital art. With each piece I create, my goal is to connect with others on a profound level and create meaningful experiences.
I am always pushing the boundaries of my creativity, constantly seeking new ways to share my vision with the world. Whether it’s wearable art, fashion, digital art, or even creating products like candles, I am dedicated to exploring different avenues to bring my artistic expression to life.

I have dedicated my entire life to studying and honing my skills in the field of art and design. It has been a rewarding journey that has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
My path in the industry began with an extensive 8-month course in visual arts, where I prepared my portfolio to gain admission to one of the most prestigious art schools in the world, Altos de Chavon School of Design in my home country. There, I delved into the realms of fine arts and fashion design, and I also learned the foundations of digital drawing and technology.
Due to my talent and hard work, I was fortunate enough to be granted the opportunity to pursue my studies at Parsons School of Design in NYC, one of the top three fashion schools globally. During my time there, I completed my bachelor’s degree, specializing in fashion collection, product design, textiles, and technology.
After completing my studies, I embarked on the creation of my most recent fashion collection, “Exploring the Unknown.” This collection was a fusion of haute couture, technology, and sculpture. It garnered attention and recognition, being featured in L’Officiel Austria, not just a label and endorsed by renowned stylists such as Nicola Formichetti and Dina Vibes.
In my leisure time, I developed a passion for digital art, and after my graduation, I began merging my two careers together—fashion and art—by creating digital artwork. This led to an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other founders in the crypto NFT space, resulting in my first digital NFT collection called “Womanoid.” This collection showcased pop abstract art and fostered a worldwide connection among art enthusiasts, immersing me further into the world of crypto and art collectibles.
Building upon that experience, I embarked on a meaningful partnership with Anna Rose for the “Awakened Woman” NFT collection. This collaboration aimed to empower women and connect them through art, embodying the core values of the collection.
My journey in the industry has been a continuous exploration and fusion of various artistic disciplines, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my career. I am excited to see where this creative path will lead me next.

I perceive NFTs as a new novel form of e-commerce that emphasizes community benefit over personal gain. They entail augmenting the value of physical items or digital assets, presenting an opportunity to actively engage in the entire creative process and foster connections with a diverse audience, irrespective of spatial, temporal, or cultural boundaries. It revolves around the notion of uniqueness achieved by intertwining technology with exclusivity. Personally, I consider my approach to NFTs as an embodiment of the new luxury experience within the market.
