We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nika. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nika below.
Nika , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking risks is a big part of being a business owner, but it’s not always the obvious kind. For me, the risk wasn’t just starting my Esthetics practice during uncertain times. The real growth came later when I faced two pivotal moments.
First, I had to overcome the fear of charging my worth. There’s a common saying, “charge less than others and you’ll get more clients,” but I quickly learned that undervaluing my services and skills meant clients would too. Early on, I relied heavily on companies that offer discount promotions to attract potential clients, which mostly brought in one-time visitors chasing the next deal. While there’s nothing wrong with discounts, which I still offer occasionally today, I realized I wasn’t gaining recurring clients. My goal was always to build a loyal, returning client base, so stepping away from discount culture and raising my prices felt risky. But I understood that by undervaluing myself, I was also undercutting the quality of care I wanted to provide. Secondly, committing fully to my business, with no backup plan or safety net was the biggest leap of all. Life has pushed me to a crossroads, and I decided to choose myself and my vision. I stopped treating Nika Aesthetics as a side hustle and started owning it as my future. That commitment gave me the confidence to invest deeply in my growth and advancement, both personally and professionally. It was a risk that pushed me to fully believe in myself, trust my path and capabilities. Taking these risks wasn’t easy, but they helped shape my business into the meaningful, sustainable practice it is today, constantly evolving and growing to its fullest potential.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At its core, my business is about helping people feel good in their own skin, not just temporarily but long term. I’m a licensed Aesthetician and founder of Nika Aesthetics, a skin studio focused on corrective skincare, education, and real results. While I specialize in acne, hyperpigmentation, and anti-aging concerns, I take a whole person approach to overall skin health, tailoring every treatment and home routine to the individual in front of me.
What brought me into this industry wasn’t just a love for skincare, it was the realization that there’s often a lot of confusion, disappointment, and emotional weight behind the relationship people have with their skin. I wanted to be the professional who could simplify that journey, offer real answers, and provide results my clients could trust. I’m constantly studying ingredient science and treatment strategy because the skin is complex, and my clients deserve more than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Nika Aesthetics isn’t about quick fixes or trends. It’s about building a plan, staying consistent, and creating an experience where my clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. What sets my practice apart is that I don’t just “perform treatments”, I collaborate with my clients, guide them between sessions, and become their skin partner through every stage of the process. I believe in educating my clients, being transparent, and building genuine relationships.
I’m most proud of the transformation that happens not just on the surface, but in how clients carry themselves after they begin seeing progress. It’s an honor to watch that confidence return.
For anyone curious about working with me, this is a space where you’ll never feel rushed, judged, or sold to. My goal is to understand your skin and help you understand it too, because when you feel good in your skin, it changes everything.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to gently unlearn was overextending myself. The idea that I needed to do everything for everyone in order to prove my value. In the beginning, I said yes to everything, pouring so much of myself into trying to be endlessly available, answering messages late at night, staying past my hours, over delivering out of fear that enough wasn’t enough. I genuinely love showing up for my clients, but eventually realized that without boundaries, I was running on empty and my amazing clients deserve me at my best, with a full cup.
Another mindset I had to shift was the tendency to constantly compare myself to others in the industry. It’s so easy to look around and feel like you’re not moving fast enough or doing it “right,” especially in a world that’s so visual and fast paced. But over time, I’ve come to appreciate that we all have our own rhythm and our own strengths. I’ve learned that there’s no timeline or formula for success in this field. We all bring something different to the table, a different energy, specialty, or perspective. That uniqueness is what makes this work impactful.
Now I focus less on the noise and more on leading with trust, trust in the process, in the relationships I build, and in the unique way I show up for my clients. I remind myself that growth doesn’t need to be rushed to be real. Unlearning those old patterns wasn’t easy but it allowed me to stay aligned, fully present, and give my all from a grounded place of integrity and utmost care.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my clientele has been building genuine relationships, both online and in person. I’ve found that when people feel seen, heard, and cared for, they remember that experience and often share it with others.
I don’t believe in hard selling or chasing trends to gain visibility. Instead, I focus on being consistent in how I show up, whether through social media, one-on-one client care, or the way I communicate in follow-ups. I speak in my own voice, share what I believe in, and aim to educate rather than overwhelm. That approach has helped build trust, and trust is what keeps clients returning and referring others.
Word of mouth has also been incredibly powerful, not just because of the results I help clients achieve, but because of the environment I intentionally create. A space where clients don’t feel pressured or judged, where they know their skin journey is taken seriously.
Consistency, intention, and authenticity have been the core of everything. I’ve learned that when you stay rooted in your values and genuinely care about people, growth becomes a natural outcome of meaningful connection. I will leave you with this: I strongly believe that growth is never ending, there’s always more to learn, more ways to evolve, and more depth to offer.
