Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nik Woodson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nik, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’ve love to hear an interesting investment story – what was one of the best or worst investments you’ve made? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I truly can say I have ever made, was on myself! I always encourage others to bet on yourself first before you can bet on someone else. How can you be a helping hand to others if you can’t help yourself? Many times in my life I put others before myself and would soon find out that they wouldn’t have done the same for me. It was at the lowest moment of my life when a light bulb came on and reminded me to start putting myself first. I’ve invested in myself numerous of times but the one that I am currently most proud of is the investment I have made in my brand, FacebyNik & Company. I went with my instincts many years ago and I saw a creative side to me that I didn’t realize was there . I perfected my craft (and continue to this day) and took a leap on faith and started my brand that many see today. Investing in my brand involved me losing sleep, declining invites, paying for certifications and trainings. I’ve spent and continue to spend money on marketing and CRM’s. Researching top notch products and skin care to perfect my craft and to provide the best service my team and I can to our clients with excellence.
Nik, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a young woman in her early teens, Nikky “Nik” Woodson discovered her passion for transforming lives when she helped a close friend conceal the disfiguring scars resulting from chemotherapy. The look on her friend’s face when Nik finished her makeup is a memory she will cherish forever. The experience had such an impact on Nik that she decided to dedicate herself to helping individuals from all walks of life feel good about themselves, not only inwardly, but outwardly as well. Her portfolio includes a diverse range of clients including political candidates, artists, brides, teens, models and high profile influencers. She is an established makeup artist with over 13 years of professional experience enhancing the natural beauty of all clientele. Her work has been published in 22 magazines and 2 billboards as of 2022. She has created educational content for up and coming makeup artists, directed photo shoots, provided product consultations, bridal vision boards for companies, and is the beauty visionary for corporate events. Additionally, FaceByNik & Company has been contracted to work with clients who were and are currently on shows for CBS Austin, Great Day SA and Miami Telemundo. Lastly, FacebyNik & Company was awarded “most requested and booked” on Thumbtack.
Her aspirations are to take FaceByNik & Company and expand its reach globally to help women ‘FACE’ the world with confidence, power and boldness!
Nik’s brand currently services San Antonio, Tx (surrounding areas), Austin, Tx (surrounding areas), Houston, Tx (surrounding areas) and soon California!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
A few months ago I read the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” this book really started the process of me changing my mindset to think more like a Boss! The Bible says “As a man thinks so is he”…I could no longer proudly say I’m a CEO/ Owner/ Boss until my mindset changed into thinking like one. I started to change my daily routine, ditched my excuses and intentionally carved out time to focus on my business daily. I’m also a believer in the Bible and there is a scripture I use for all of my business endeavors which is Proverbs 16:3 “commit your plans to the Lord and He shall make them successful” every aspect of my business has been around this scripture.
Along with the numerous leadership books I love to read I also never pass up a chance to join a leadership conference, or be apart of entrepreneurial workshops/ organizations.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The transformation process! Also, I enjoy the fact that I make my own schedule and everyday doesn’t feel like “work” but a day to transform and create!
