Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nik Tizekker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nik, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve worked on many projects. There are a few that stand out.
The first one, 3 Days With Dad, was a film I was a part of in 2017. I was hired as a Production Assistant (PA) and within the first two days I was promoted to 2nd Assistant Director. With that position comes more responsibility where I was in charge of Talent and making sure Actors and Crew knew Call Times for the next day. I was also responsible for paperwork. On that film I became friends with almost the entire cast and still talk to most of them to this day.
The second one that stands out to me is a film called, Senior Moment. This movies starred (movie stars) William Shatner, Christopher Lloyd and Jean Smart. This one was memorable because I got to work with legends on this project. Especially since they are all seniors who knows how much longer these actors might be around. Being able to work with and talk with and hear their stories about the industry was an incredible experience.
The last one is in the works. It’s a film that I’ve written and it’s called “Butch Cassidy’s Forgotten Outlaw”. It’s a story about my 4th cousin who was an outlaw that rode with Butch Cassidy in the early stages of what WOULD eventually be called “The Wild Bunch”. His name was Bub Meeks. He robbed an Idaho Bank and almost a year later he got reprimanded for it. He held the horses outside the bank while Butch Cassidy and Elzy Lay went inside the bank. Bub got 35 Years in the Idaho State Penitentiary, the longest sentencing in Idaho history.
These would be some of my memorable projects. Forgotten Outlaw is still in the works but it’s a really interesting story and it’s so close to home that it’s been a really exciting process thus far.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been working as a director and producer for over 15 years. I founded Tizaster Productions in 2005, a company which has become known for taking clients’ ideas and initiatives and turning them into art in motion. I have a wide range of experience, specializing in Cinematic Film and Music Videos. I have shot videos for dozens of artists, including Kaya Jones, Krayzie Bone, Brandyn Burnette, and Leah Turner. Most recently, I have teamed up with Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey member, Jonathan Cain for music video and album design work.
My excellence behind the camera, intuition for storytelling, and my heart for others in everyday life is what, I think, sets me apart in the highly saturated entertainment industry. My enthusiasm for the work and skills behind the camera come together in a down-to-earth combination of heart and hard work without ever losing human connection.
One of my biggest influences has always been Director/Producer J.J. Abrams. “The way he portrays his stories through the art of filmmaking just blows my mind.” Meeting Mr. Abrams was one of the best days of my life.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes! I am a really big advocate on “back to the basics”. I feel that modern day cinema has really lost the WHY. WHY cinema was created in the first place, which was simply to just entertain its audience without any type of agenda.
I think we really need to focus on the importance of cinema and why it was created and that the industry needs to go back to what it was.
Look at music now a days, Vinyl Records are making a comeback…let’s do the same thing with cinema.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Well…most recently during the Pandemic the entertainment industry shut down. I had been living in Los Angeles for 10 years making a name for myself and getting asked to work on a lot of projects. When the Pandemic hit, all of those projects got put on hold. Next thing I knew a few months had passed and things were still locked down so I picked up everything and moved to Idaho to be closer to my family leaving behind 10 years of hard work and devotion to a career that I’d dreamed of since I was a kid.
Now, being in Idaho for a little over 2 years, I have been able to produce and work on projects from home and travel to LA or other places when I need to. I have 3 films this year that I have in the works and I’m very excited to continue down this path.
