We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nigina Niyazmatova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nigina, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on recently was a promo for a box office feature film. It was a special experience for me as I had the opportunity to work with non-verbal talent for the first time in my career, which was truly enlightening. As a producer, I learned a lot from this project, and I take immense pride in it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
With over eleven years of experience, I have worked on a diverse range of projects including feature films, movies of the week, documentary series, animation series and etc.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a part of the magic of storytelling. Fueling my passion, I pursued a Master’s Degree in Production to gain a comprehensive understanding of the technical and logistical aspects of filmmaking. Throughout my career, I have successfully managed large-scale union and non-union projects, coordinating various aspects such as casting, location scouting, budgeting, scheduling and so on. My expertise lies in ensuring the smooth operation of productions, from pre-production to post-production.
Over the years I was able to learn the complexity of different formats, whether it’s a feature film, TV movie, commercial, or branded digital content. And that helps me to navigate the unique challenges that each project presents and deliver high-quality results. I am also a member of the Producers Guild of America, which I am deeply proud of. And I am always eager to collaborate with industry peers and embark on an extraordinary cinematic journey.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I find it incredibly rewarding to witness people’s reactions and engagement when I talk about the projects I’ve worked on. Whether it’s a mention of the project or people have actually seen or heard about it. There’s this spark in their eyes! And they become curious, asking questions and wanting to know more details. Especially kids, they are the best audience.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think non-creatives often struggle to grasp that our work cannot be easily calculated. While its impact can be seen and felt, you cannot measure the amount of work it takes you to get to the final destination. Another aspect is that motivation becomes essential to keep going, as creativity and inspiration go hand in hand. And of course, you need to possess a unique set of skills, but every day and project present new challenges, demanding you to evolve every single time. Most of us are driven by a passionate dedication to our craft, recognizing that it’s not a safe or stable path. But it’s where our hearts truly lie.
