We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Niecey Onley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Niecey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
I strive to produce and sell organically handcrafted ice cream and other sweet delicacies to our clients while remaining committed to introducing new flavors to satisfy their cravings. I take the input of my consumers to modify my menu and create new items.
Niecey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Niecey and I started my business Niecey Sweet Tooth Factory with the encouragement from my family and fiancée at the time. My business specializes in homemade ice cream and started with only three flavors and now I have approximately 18 different flavors including non-dairy and vegan flavors.
My business expanded beyond homemade ice cream into chocolate covered treats (Oreos, Rice Krispies Treats, Strawberries, Marshmallows, etc.), ice cream sandwiches, overloaded waffle cones & bowls, cotton candy, ice cream and cake in a jar, ice cream cakes and snow cones.
Niecey Sweet Tooth Factory is proud to say that all customer feedback and ideas are taken into consideration. When we revive a significant amount of requests for a certain product or flavor ice cream, we will learn how to make and unveil the new product to our customers.
What sets Niecey Sweet Tooth Factory apart from other business and ice cream products are our signature flavor ice cream flavors and products. We have a signature flavor ice cream called Sweet Tooth Special (vanilla ice cream with brownies, caramel and chocolate chips) as well as our unique product: ice cream and cake in a jar. We are most proud to have a business with unique products and flavors.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When we first started out as a business, we were attending pop up shops and only selling ice cream. We had to learn the demographics that would potentially be at specific pop up shops and make ice cream to cater to the potential customer. We began to offer different products that people would want to consume at pop up shops because we knew ice cream melts such as ice cream sandwiches, overloaded waffle cones and bowls as well as chocolate covered treats. We had to pivot our business strategy at pop up shops to cater to customers.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of building new clients is promoting and marketing on social media. Learning how to create reels, and promote on social media has been a real help in gaining new clients. We also have discount codes customers can use when making purchases on our mobile app.
