We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicolette Rich Gregory. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicolette below.
Nicolette, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Like others in today’s society, I spent a decent part of my 20’s blaming my parents for everything that was going wrong in my life. I even blamed them for my self-sabotaging, temper tantrums and the lack of pursing my dreams. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I began to appreciate my parents on a deeper level. I began to see my parents as living, learning, & growing human beings. Human beings aim to overcome obstacles and tests that are put forth along the variety of paths in their lives. Before, I looked to them to be perfect and everything they had taught me to be..at least. Instead, I saw flawed, hypocritical individuals. As I approached the end of my 20’s, I made the decision to accept my parents as they are. I told myself, “I won’t always agree but I know their love for me is pure”. Then I re-learned my boundaries. I understood I no longer have to allow energetic exchanges that don’t serve me. God bless the nervous system paired with the intuition. They tell us what we need to know! Understanding the intuition is something my mom taught me. It lead me to acceptance. Learning to accept my parents for who they are, is one of the most powerful gifts I have ever received. I’m so grateful I learned this lesson before I lost my first parent, I didn’t know what to do. I lost parts of me. I was a daddy’s girl. What he left me with was so profound and that’s forgiveness. It’s easily the most powerful gift in life. Upon him leaving this earth, he gave me the validation I needed from him and a peace of mind that lead me to a new chapter in my life. I’ve now expanded my creative mediums and I’m a happily married wife. I’d say my parents can do no wrong in my eyes.

Nicolette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, hello! My name is Nicolette and I am the founder of NRichYourself LLC. We have been under healing maintenance for a couple years now but the waiting period is ending. Thank you to CanvasRebel for providing the space to share! I am a Spiritual advisor, Reiki Practitioner, and Actress. Universal Artist resonates the most! My life has been filled with a wide range of expertise. I grew up performing in choirs, plays, family gathers, and even backyard parties. Right out of high school, I practiced and became a freelance makeup artist. Then I started dabbling in the hospitality industry where I explored cuisine, which is a more personal hobby I share with my loved ones. I eventually worked in the corporate world across different industries which taught me discipline, consistency, and focus. On the flip side, those jobs reminded me of my gifts and talents; motivating me to stick to my dreams. Now, I always knew I wanted to be a business owner but I didn’t know what kind. Upon approaching my young adult years, I took myself so seriously. I told myself I didn’t want to explore art because I wanted to be seen as a prestigious, white-collar girly “with a plan”. Little did I know, the healing path reeled me in. The new plan was to help myself. While being raised as an older sibling, my natural instinct was to help others along the way. That’s when I started my first podcast in 2019. My intentions were to spread unconditional love through conversations and topics revolving around self-growth & healing. Like me, I wanted people to know that there are many healing alternatives that lead to a peaceful life. This path also birthed NRichYourself. I spent 4 years creating content for my website and social media platforms, vending my products/services at events, hosting events, offering tarot card readings & lessons at social events, and offering private Reiki & Tarot healing sessions. In 2023, I had to break away. I had to admit that in ways, I wasn’t living to my fullest potential. I also realized that when I found myself going inward, my acting journey began to call. Around the same time that I started my podcast, I auditioned for a play and didn’t get the part. I felt rejected but it allowed me to remember how to play. In 2022, I had a virtual audition but the company ended up being a scam. That was disappointing but I understood it wasn’t the right time. By the end of 2022, I had moved and began exploring the theatre world yet again! This time, I met my husband and that’s when my dreams began to lift off the ground. The seeds I had planted were blossoming. Since then, I’ve acted in my first theatre play, I’ve been featured in my first film, and I’m patiently waiting for the next role that’s in alignment with my purpose. It’s even given me the inspiration to rebrand and re-launch NRichYourself. This week, I am publishing my 4th podcast season of “511 Journey” where I’m discussing the 12 Universal Laws. An episode will air every other Wednesday at 12pm CST starting April 16th and ending on September 17th. If you are interested in my journey, please follow me on all social media platforms @nrichyourself. @nrichyourself511 on Youtube. My new website has not yet launched but I will be offering bookings and products on Instagram. The “Book Now” button will be active by May 1st. Stay tuned and thank you for taking the time to read my story, Blessings ✨

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes, I have a few resources that I’d like to highlight. “Book of Secrets” by Deepak Chopra changed my world. Lisa Nichols, Ralph Smart, and Tony Robbins are inspirational speakers whose lessons gave me so much inspiration during the start of my journey as an entrepreneur. Issa Rae, Kendrick Lamar, and Beyonce are artists that have gifted me with such an extraterrestrial scope on talent and beauty. Another resource that has been influential to my external growth is Yoga with NicoMarie. She helps me remember to pair my mental with my physical discipline. The last saving grace I must mention, is listening to binaural beats! These are just a few resources that come to mind, that have impacted my life tremendously!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I’m so grateful I unlearned is that you CAN’T be amazing at multiple things. I’ve always been a “Jane of all trades” which made it difficult for me to know what path to take along my entrepreneurial journey. As I mentioned before I am an older sibling. I am the second sibling in a total of 8. We’ve always had so many gifts and talents as a collective and growing up I strived to lift my younger siblings up. Even as an adult, I would find myself in positions where I supported everyone else’s dreams but my own. Sometimes if someone was doing something that I was interested in, that I wasn’t the best at, I would focus my energy on the other person succeeding instead of channeling that same energy on my personal growth. That caused me to lose focus on my gifts and talents. I thought I was only good at being a cheerleader for others. I carried that mindset for years, throughout various connections. I learned that no matter who I support, it doesn’t take away from my greatness. And when it’s time to share the spotlight, I’m happy because the only person I could ever compete with is me.
