We were lucky to catch up with Nicolette Canady recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicolette , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Honestly, I am. I’ve worked some pretty demanding jobs in my lifetime and while I don’t mind the hard work, I find myself more fulfilled as an entrepreneur. Time freedom is priceless and while working at previous jobs, I didn’t have much time freedom. If it ever came down to it, I’d take a job temporarily but I know that’s no longer in alignment with who I am.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Nicolette, owner of Serenity & Success. I help online female entrepreneurs scale to their next level through systems, strategies and automations. I’ve been in the industry for a couple of years and I came into it by what I thought was an accident. I was running a business, working 12 hour shifts and mom to my daughter who was a Sr in high school. I began to get overwhelmed and learned about automations. I started implementing them into my business and was able to gain some of my time back. I then began to try the same techniques on other businessowners that needed to save time. The rest is history because I’ve been on a mission ever since to help women discover a balance in their business by focusing on organization, automated processes and giving them their time back. These time saving strategies create passive income for businesses while saving them time and energy.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Absolutely! Recently, business began to slow down due to the economy and this traditionally being a slow season until closer to Black Friday. I decided to add more skills and now have been able to secure my Google certification in digital marketing. With that, I took on some email marketing clients and have been able to get them some pretty impressive results. We are now offering that as a service too.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Showing up. I can’t say enough how important it is to show up with video content or going live. When I first started, i had imposter syndrome and would hardly like to get on camera. I tried to get away from it as best as I could but when I finally decided to start recording videos instead of static images on social media, my content and following changed a lot. I started gaining daily followers and industry authority because I made videos and showed results on most topics that I heard about in discussions, blogs, etc. Showing up will also help you build your reputation faster than almost anything.
