We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was to start this practice, The Gynecology Institute of Chicago. I had just received severance from my last job and had nothing else. While the safety of a hospital was a possibility, I knew that I had to take that chance, and so I did. Nearly 10 years later, we’re still here, caring for patients and growing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
With the philosophy of marrying both alternative and traditional medicine, I opened The Gynecology Institute of Chicago in July 2013. We understand and respect alternative medicine and utilize both in order to achieve the best patient outcome. We utilize acupuncture, herbals and supplements, and pelvic floor therapy to promote care for the total patient. She recently published the Amazon bestselling book, “This is How You Vagina,” a book dedicated to normalizing the discussion of female genitalia and female sexual health.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Show up. Make sure your team sees you working. It doesn’t matter if you wake up at 4am and get all sorts of things done and then go to the office later. It’s your business. Be the first one there and the last one out.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I have found that traditional PR has worked wonders for the practice. While it’s a time consuming and often expensive endeavor, put PR in your budget and you won’t be sorry in the long run.
