Nicole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! My name is Nicole, I am 32 years old, and I was brought up in Miami. My mom is Colombian, and my dad is Puerto Rican, and I am a proud Latin Entrepreneur. I am the owner and photographer behind the lens at Nicole Grace Photography. My dad gave me my first point-and-shoot camera when I was in middle school being that I loved to take photos. Growing up, my parents always told me that if I worked hard enough, I could achieve anything I wanted in life. I’d like to think that’s where I get my tenacity from. I have always loved to take photos of family and friends, but I never thought that my love for photography would eventually turn into a business. My full-time job is teaching which is another passion of mine I’ve had since childhood. I was in the last semester of my master’s degree program when I decided to buy a camera and just start taking photos again. I opened my Instagram account and started telling my friends and family about what I was trying to do, and they supported me by allowing me to take photos of them and their friends and families. In November, I got my first paying client and felt a whirlwind of emotions. From then, I have built my clientele and hopefully will continue to do so for as long as possible.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients has been word of mouth and instagram. Usually when I ask new clients how they found me they usually heard about me from a friend of a friend who gave them my Instagram account.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I feel like I have been able to build my reputation by giving my clients a professional yet memorable experience that they’ll cherish. I believe by doing this it leaves them not only wanting to come back but also telling their friends and family about me as well.
