Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole Spruill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nicole , appreciate you joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
When I first launched Nik Spruill, it was just me, designing, packing orders at my dining table, answering customer emails at midnight, and wearing every hat. I started with a small capsule jewelry collection and a handful of ready-to-wear looks. What I lacked in scale, I made up for in clarity: I knew exactly how I wanted women to feel in my designs, bold, unique and unforgettable.
Scaling Nik Spruill didn’t happen overnight. The growth came in waves, and honestly, in many moments of doubt. One of the biggest turning points came when I realized I couldn’t grow trying to do everything alone. Delegating was hard at first. I was used to being the one who did everything, But once I built a reliable small team, production help, a a reliable, understanding supplier and someone to assist with logistics, I could finally move out of survival mode and start thinking strategically.
Social media played a huge role. I leaned into video, storytelling, and real-time content that showed my designs, how to wear them and behind-the-scenes content. I didn’t pretend everything was glossy or perfect. I shared the studio, the delays, the process. That honesty built trust and connection. It wasn’t about going viral, it was about consistency and clarity of vision.
As the brand grew, so did the eyes on it. Today, my jewelry and womenswear designs are worn by incredible women like Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Muni Long, Summer Walker, and a growing list of influential artists, reality stars, and creators. That visibility helped solidify Nik Spruill as a force in luxury-meets-statement fashion.
Another major moment was the opportunity to relocate my showroom into a 10,000-square-foot gallery style showroom and event space, which also featured other high-end, well known womenswear, footwear, and streetwear brands. Within just a few months of opening my showroom there, I was presented with the chance to acquire the entire company. A bold move that made me part owner, along with filmmaker, DeShaun Davis, responsible for over 50 brands. That experience taught me how to operate on a much larger scale: how to run a full-fledged fashion conglomerate, manage vendor relations, organize high-volume sales, and lead diverse creative teams.
Of course, there were mistakes along the way. I overproduced once, chasing trends instead of intuition, and had to sit on inventory that didn’t sell and didn’t feel true to the brand. That taught me to grow with focus and not just volume.
The biggest lesson: scaling isn’t just about growing outward. it’s about strengthening inward. Strengthening your systems. Strengthening your storytelling. Strengthening your connection to why you started. That’s what kept Nik Spruill growing even through the hard parts. That’s what prepared me for bigger opportunities I never could’ve imagined when I was hand-wrapping orders at my kitchen table.

Nicole , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the entertainment industry for many years as a professional model and commercial actress, I’ve had the opportunity to work on national campaigns and film projects, and collaborate with some of the most recognizable names in the industry. For me, transitioning into fashion was a natural evolution. I’ve always loved to stand out and wear pieces no one else had, things that sparked conversation, turned heads, and felt like wearable art. That mindset is exactly what inspired me to create Nik Spruill.
My brand is for people like me. Those who aren’t afraid to stand out, who express themselves boldly through fashion. Nik Spruill offers uniquely designed jewelry and womenswear. From clear liquid lucite pieces, to solid gold brass statement jewelry, to intricately designed womenswear made with 3D fabrics and exotic materials. Every piece is created with intention, designed to push boundaries while still feeling elevated, modern, and powerful.
What sets Nik Spruill apart is the fusion of fashion and entertainment energy. I bring my background as a performer, my understanding of how things move, how they photograph, how they make you feel to everything I create. My goal is to make fashion that empowers, excites, and turns the volume up on individuality.
I’m most proud of the fact that my designs are now worn by incredible women. That validation confirms that there’s space in the market for bold, statement-forward design and that staying true to your vision matters.
What I want people to know about Nik Spruill is this: it’s not just a brand, it’s a declaration. It’s for those who lead, who dare, who light up every room without saying a word. I’m building a fashion house rooted in originality, innovation, and fearless creativity.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that perfection equals success.
Coming from the entertainment industry, I was trained to believe that everything had to be flawless, your look, your performance and your delivery. That mindset carried over into my brand when I launched Nik Spruill. I was obsessing over every detail, overthinking every decision, and trying to control every part of the process because I thought that’s what would make it “successful.” But it was exhausting and honestly, it was holding me back.
The turning point came when I missed an opportunity because I was too focused on making something “perfect” instead of getting it out. I realized that creativity thrives in momentum, not in fear. Progress is more powerful than perfection.
Once I started giving myself permission to grow and experiment, that’s when Nik Spruill started to flourish. I started making more videos and stopped waiting for everything to be polished before I shared it.
Now I know: people connect with realness, not perfection. And building something impactful means being brave enough to move, even before it feels perfect.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my cofounder, DeShaun Davis, through a shared creative social media circle but what really connected us was vision. We were both building in our own lanes, me in fashion and design, him in story telling, creative production and brand development but we had the same drive, The same eye for innovation and the same belief that luxury should be bold, disruptive, and rooted in authenticity.
We realized that together, we could build something bigger than either of us could alone. DeShaun brings a strategic and visual clarity, a system that perfectly balances my design approach. He sees the big picture, he moves with intention and he’s not afraid to challenge an idea in service of making it better.
He’s not only my business partner, he’s also my partner in life. We’re building a brand and a future together, and soon, I’ll officially be Nicole Davis! That kind of bond, personal and professional, makes everything we create even more intentional, aligned, and meaningful.
For us, it’s always been about trust, respect, and a shared mission: to create a brand that leads, inspires, and makes a lasting impression.
