We recently connected with Nicole Sorensen and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Certainly! My family and I make it a point to embark on one to two out-of-state family vacations each year, coupled with occasional weekend camping trips. As a Realtor, the demand for constant availability can be overwhelming, creating a feeling that a true break is hard to come by. To navigate this, my husband and I have embraced a concept we’ve coined as “Work Life Integration.” Even during our designated “vacation” time, we find ways to seamlessly weave work into our everyday lives. Whether it’s dedicating an hour before our kids wake up or after they’ve gone to bed to handle emails and check in on things, we make a conscious effort to strike a balance. While we do respond to phone calls and text messages throughout the day, I’ve established clear boundaries and consistently remind myself that nothing is truly urgent. This time spent on vacation with my young family remains a top priority, and I’m committed to cherishing these moments.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I’m Nicole Sorensen. Beyond being a proud mother of three, I’m an avid animal lover, caring for two Thoroughbred horses, a pony, two dogs, and a lively bunch of chickens. For the past seven years, I’ve proudly served as a Realtor in the picturesque region of Durango and Southwest Colorado.
My journey into real estate began after my husband and I bought our first home in 2015. Experiencing the intricacies of the real estate process sparked my passion for the industry. I found joy in the problem-solving aspects of transactions and cherished the opportunity to connect with people from diverse walks of life.
Shortly after closing on our first house, I obtained my real estate license, and over the years, I’ve been particularly drawn to assisting young families and first-time homebuyers in securing their piece of real estate in Southwest Colorado. There’s an immense sense of joy and gratitude that comes from helping families establish roots in an area that holds a special place in my heart.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I genuinely attribute the development of my reputation in Durango to the way I approach client relationships. My philosophy is rooted in avoiding any hint of pushiness or a sales-oriented demeanor. I extend to all my clients the same care and consideration I would for friends and family. This approach is driven by my personal expectation of how I would like to be treated by others. Creating a comfortable and trusting atmosphere is paramount to me, especially during what could be the most significant purchase in someone’s life. I go above and beyond to ensure that every question and need of my clients is not just addressed but met with utmost attention throughout the entire process.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The most fruitful avenue for acquiring new clients has undoubtedly been through the referrals of my friends and past clients. Maintaining a consistent presence in their minds is a priority for me. I make it a point to enthusiastically accept invitations from friends, recognizing that in any social gathering, valuable connections can be made. I firmly believe that a casual conversation today could evolve into a significant transaction tomorrow, underscoring the importance of being present and open to opportunities at all times.
