We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Silvester. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Hi Nicole, thanks for joining us today. Early in your career, how did you think through the decision of whether to start your own firm or join an established firm?
When I first began my journey at GreatFlorida Insurance – Silvester Advisors – I was filled with a mix of excitement and nervous energy. Stepping into the world of insurance was both a leap of faith and a personal challenge. I knew I had a lot to learn, but I also trusted in my ability to grow under the guidance of mentors who brought over four decades of experience to the table. I was fortunate to be surrounded by individuals deeply rooted in this industry, especially my mother, who owns and operates our independent agency.
Working alongside my mom has been one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my life. Her dedication, leadership, and work ethic have not only shaped my professional growth but have also inspired me personally. She’s been my role model for as long as I can remember, and getting to build something together has turned my initial spark of curiosity into a long-term passion.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to expand my knowledge in the field of insurance, navigating everything from policy structuring and risk assessment to customer relations and claims support. But more than the technical skills, what’s stood out to me the most is the human connection. Insurance may be about policies and protection on paper, but in reality, it’s about people – their lives, their families, their peace of mind. Every day I get to play a small role in helping others secure their futures, and that’s something I take great pride in.
One quote that truly resonates with me is: “We do not live to work, but we do work to live.” When you’re doing something you genuinely care about- something that aligns with your values and allows you to serve others – it doesn’t feel like a job. It feels like purpose. Passion becomes your fuel, and making a difference becomes your reward.
Looking back, what started as a chapter of uncertainty has now grown into a beautifully evolving story -one that I’m proud to be writing, page by page. And I know this is only the beginning.
One of my deepest aspirations is to one day pass down the same knowledge, strength, and leadership to my own children, just as my beautiful and courageous mother has done for me. She has not only been a guiding light in business, but also a powerful example of resilience, compassion, and integrity. Watching her lead with both heart and determination has shown me that true leadership is about lifting others up and creating a legacy that extends far beyond the office.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As I mentioned earlier, my journey into the insurance industry wasn’t solely guided by following in my mother’s footsteps-although her influence has been incredibly powerful. I also entered this field because I’ve always approached life with an open mind and a drive to explore new ventures. I’ve consistently seen opportunity and growth on the horizon, and I knew that stepping into this space could open doors not only for my career but also for the meaningful connections I hoped to build.
At my core, I care deeply about people. I genuinely enjoy engaging with others, listening to their stories, and finding ways to make a positive impact in their lives. That’s the heart of why I do what I do. For me, being in insurance is not about pushing policies or chasing numbers-it’s about offering guidance, building trust, and providing comfort during times that may be confusing, overwhelming, or even scary.
I want my clients to see that I’m not here to “just make a sale.” I’m here to walk alongside them through life’s uncertainties-whether that means finding the right coverage, discussing tough situations, or simply being a steady source of hope and support. I believe in creating real conversations, understanding everyday struggles, and showing up with solutions and empathy. Together, we navigate challenges, and I want every client to know they are not alone in the process.
I currently serve as a Personal Lines Agent, which means I specialize in areas like auto, home, renters, umbrella, and other individual coverages. While I don’t currently focus on commercial or health insurance, I’ve had the privilege of working with clients of all ages and backgrounds-each with their own unique needs. That diversity has been both humbling and enriching, and it fuels my passion to continue learning and growing within the industry.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
If I had to identify the most effective strategy for growing and retaining clientele, it would be this: make the business a lifestyle, and lead with authenticity. In this industry, people can sense when you’re genuine-and that connection matters far more than any pitch or sale ever could. Whether or not a transaction takes place, my goal is always to represent both myself and my agency with integrity, professionalism, and heart.
For me, insurance isn’t just something I do from 9 to 5-it’s something I live. Whether I’m in the office or out for dinner, I carry the mindset that every person I meet could benefit from understanding how to protect what matters most to them. Not in a salesy or transactional way, but in a real, human way. I approach every interaction as a chance to offer help, share knowledge, and be a reliable resource for someone who might need it—now or in the future.
I often remind my clients that I’m not just their insurance agent; I’m someone who genuinely cares. I want to be the person they feel comfortable calling with a question, concern, or even just a story to share. That level of trust doesn’t come from pushing policies-it comes from showing up consistently, being sincere, and building relationships rooted in respect and compassion.
Because I love working with people, hearing their stories, and understanding the different walks of life they come from, I know in my heart the impact that kind of connection can make. Sometimes, just being kind, present, and helpful can completely change someone’s day-and that matters. Humanity matters. Good, genuine people matter. And in a world that moves so fast, I take pride in slowing down and showing my clients that they’re seen, heard, and valued-every step of the way.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I would be honored to share a bit about my business partner-who also happens to be my boss, mentor, and the owner of GreatFlorida Insurance, Silvester Advisors Agency-my incredible mother, Michelle Silvester.
It’s hard to put into words just how deeply she has influenced my life, both professionally and personally. Honestly, I could get emotional just thinking about the impact she’s had on me. She’s not only been a guiding light in my career, but she’s also my greatest inspiration. Watching her navigate the complexities of running a successful agency while also being a loving, present mother has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Michelle Silvester has owned and led this agency for over 22 years with integrity, compassion, and relentless dedication. She is the kind of leader who leads by example-balancing tough decision-making with empathy, always putting others before herself, and never expecting anything in return. She treats her team and clients like family, and she has created a culture rooted in honesty, community, and care.
What inspires me most about her is not just her professional success, but the humility with which she carries it. Despite all she’s achieved, she remains grounded, gracious, and focused on lifting others up. Her example has taught me what it truly means to be a strong, compassionate leader-one who earns respect not by demanding it, but by giving it freely.
She’s shown me that success is not just measured by numbers or accolades, but by the lives you touch, the people you empower, and the legacy you leave behind. And because of her, I’ve learned to approach each day with gratitude, humility, and purpose. I’m endlessly proud to walk alongside her in this business and to continue learning from her wisdom and heart.
