We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Serafino recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
My first client jodi is very special to me. I had just started using dipping powders and was at the time working in a shop i did not own. She was actually the owners regular client, however she ended up staying with me for years now. She preferred the way i treated my clients, my attention to detail, and my overall business manners. I was nervous at first for sure, but she was kind, understanding, and willing to give me a chance. Needless to say i won her over instantly. My first client, now a friend, and has followed me for years!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Well my name is Nikki, originally i went to college and got my degree in business management. After college i travelled around with a music group and performed. Eventually my interests expanded and i fell in love with fashion, make-up, and nails.
Now i own my own shop doing nails. I love to make people look beautiful and feel beautiful about themselves. That’s what drives me. I somewhat differ from other shops i like to spend more time doing the actual service to make sure everything is perfect. I’ve built an extensive client list of those who prefer 1 on 1 sessions, someone who will listen to what you want instead of pushing certain products or more “expensive” services. Instead i like to listen and see what my clients actually want. Working for myself allows me to schedule around events in my clients life and my own. So i stick to appointment based work only.
If you book with me you can be assured no walk ins will be in your time slot! Everyone’s time is important and my clients appreciate that if we make an appointment i will be there! My clients are not paychecks to me, they are people looking for top tier services, that they can rely on, they are looking for a technician who treats them like people, not just a time slot. That is what you get with me, many clients become friends quickly.
LVNAILSBYNICOLE provides a service that you won’t get in larger nail salons. You can expect your nails to last weeks, be much harder to damage, and before you leave you will be satisfied. So if you find yourself in the new port richey area of florida feel free to set an appointment! Remember they fill extremely fast but i would love to meet new clients to continue to grow my business and friendships!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media can be a hard task. I started by using instagram, and facebook. Post videos or pictures of your work, don’t be afraid to ask clients to help spread the word. Ask them if they love there service and see if they are willing to share pictures or reactions to the service. Give it time and nurture it, it will grow and you will get messages, new clients, and plenty of appointments. Never stop trying and just get past the biggest hurdle, which is just starting the accounts to spread your work and business. If you don’t try it won’t work!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson i had to unlearn and still struggle with is that a successful business must be perfect. That goal is something you should strive for, but in excess it causes so much stress you will either quit or burnout. There have been times where a service didn’t go as well as i liked, it wasn’t up to my own standard. You have to be careful when that happens and not be too hard on yourself. That will cause more damage then a nail that wasn’t “perfect”.
Always remember you have room to grow no matter if you are just starting or already a master at your craft. Perfection isn’t truly attainable, but we like to work towards getting close to it!
