We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Sauk recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Most business owners know they need a website and see it as a necessary business expense. And a lot of my competitors advertise their services that way as well. What most people don’t realize is that a website should be an investment. Built correctly your website should be like a very inexpensive employee that works 24/7 to save you time and make you money. I work with my clients to make a unique plan so their website works for them to help them reach their goals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve been building websites since 1999. I began my career as a professional website designer while I was still a teenager, taking an after school job as at a local hosting company. I also joined organizations that helped me grow my experience and became an award-winning website designer.
As my career grew I worked in various positions in the professional design industry including a graphic designer at an established advertising agency and the sole in-house graphic designer at a private university.
My life long passion for design and business development naturally led me to become an independent contractor and eventually a business owner. I founded Ventus Design Studio in 2012 to help other business owners use their websites as a tool for growth.
At Ventus Design Studio we have an incredibly efficient process to make impressive websites for our clients that support their business and help them reach their goals.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My biggest focus for social media has been growing my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/NicoleSaukWebsiteHelpandTips YouTube is excellent for service business owners to promote themselves. Since YouTube is the second largest search engine online, it’s a great way for new clients to find me. It’s easy to show that I’m an expert in my field when I have multiple video tutorials showing how I create websites. It’s also a great way for me to help my clients who enjoy working on their own websites, and for new business owners that can’t afford to hire someone yet.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I get most of my new clients through referrals from previous clients, or though my professional network. I’ve found that the best way to get new clients is to take good care of the clients you already have, and let them speak through you. My business network has also been an incredibly valuable community that regularly supports me. Relationship building and taking care of people is a huge focus in my business.
