We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Riniker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Hi Nicole, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?
One of the biggest issues with large corporate embroidery companies is the sacrifice of quality for speed and cost-cutting. Many mass-produced embroidered items are done quickly using cheap materials, resulting in products that don’t last. Customers are often forced into high minimum order requirements or given very limited options, which can be frustrating for businesses that need flexibility.
Transparency is another major problem. Many corporate embroidery companies don’t disclose pricing upfront, leaving customers in the dark until they receive their invoice. They also fail to offer multiple pricing options to accommodate different budgets, which can make it difficult for small businesses or individuals to get what they need.
Customer service is where we see the biggest gap. At MightyB Embroidery, we talk to our customers directly and genuinely care about their vision. We welcome questions, provide multiple options, and offer creative ideas to bring designs to life. In contrast, my own experience with a corporate embroidery supplier left a lot to be desired—I was given very few product choices, told I couldn’t use certain colors because they “wouldn’t look good,” and had no idea of the final cost until payment was due. The whole process felt rushed, with no clear due date, leaving me constantly waiting.
This experience is exactly why I prioritize quality, transparency, and a customer-first approach at MightyB Embroidery. We believe custom apparel should be an exciting and stress-free process, not one filled with uncertainty and limitations.
Nicole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve owned multiple businesses, and getting branded items has always been one of the most exciting parts. But I hated the process. Online, there are too many options, and if you don’t know exactly what you want, it’s hard to get in touch with a shop. That’s why I started MightyB Embroidery—I have a passion for working with and helping other business owners, and I love creating high-quality branded apparel that helps them showcase what they’ve worked so hard to build.
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life, from DIY projects around the house to Cricut crafts and homemade gifts. I’ve always loved making things with my hands, so embroidery was a natural fit. My first project was custom robes for a girls’ weekend in Vail, and I loved being able to provide something luxurious that brought friends together. Now, we do custom embroidery on apparel, hats, bags, and more—primarily helping businesses with uniforms and branded merchandise, but we also love doing one-off projects for events, gifts, and special occasions.
One of the biggest challenges our clients face is the overwhelming number of options and the inconvenience of working with multiple vendors. Many customers come to us after running from shop to shop—one for hats, another for shirts, and sometimes even a family member trying to DIY it. We take that stress away by handling everything from start to finish, providing guidance, quality products, and an easy, transparent process. Our customers get direct access to us—we send updates, answer questions via text, and provide upfront quotes with different options to fit their budget.
We’re proud of every project we’ve done, from business branding to deeply personal gifts like baby shower embroidery, newborn keepsakes, and custom items for people going through chemo. Recently, we completed our largest order yet, and while the process had its challenges, we maintained open communication with the client and made sure they were thrilled with the final product.
Right now, it’s just me and my husband, Mike—we aren’t a huge team (yet!), but we’re committed to providing the best service, top-quality products, and a personal touch. We want to build relationships with our customers, not just fulfill orders. Whether you need custom apparel for your business or a meaningful gift, we’d love to help bring your vision to life!
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Like some of my other businesses, the goal with MightyB Embroidery was always to go full-time. However, getting there took a lot of learning, hard work, and balancing multiple responsibilities. I’m completely self-taught—learning from other embroiderers, hours and hours of practice, and a whole lot of YouTube. It’s been a continuous learning process, and I’m still growing my skills every day.
At the same time, I also own a virtual assistant agency, which has made balancing both businesses tricky. I usually start my day with VA work and end it with MightyB, staying extremely organized and planning everything carefully. But as MightyB has grown, I’ve gradually stepped back from my VA work to focus more on embroidery.
The turning point came when we started consistently seeing large orders, repeat customers, and referrals rolling in. A major moment for me was when we were finishing up our largest order yet, and before it was even completed, another—an even bigger one—came in. That’s when I felt the snowball effect really start. Customers who loved our work were sending more people our way, and word-of-mouth is growing faster than I expected.
One of the biggest challenges has been knowing when to hire and finding the right people to help scale the business. But as MightyB continues to grow, I’m excited for what’s ahead and the opportunities to keep expanding!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We prioritize communication and a personal touch to keep in touch with our clients and build brand loyalty. Most of our customers have our direct phone numbers and can text us anytime with questions. We also send them picture updates throughout the embroidery process, so they feel involved and excited about their order.
We know that ordering custom apparel can sometimes feel overwhelming, so we make it easy by providing quotes right away with different clothing options and pricing. We also take the time to offer recommendations, helping customers find the best fit for their needs and budget.
Beyond that, we focus on making every order a great experience. Whether it’s a business ordering uniforms or someone getting a one-time gift, we want them to walk away not just satisfied but excited to work with us again. We’ve had customers refer multiple people our way, and that’s the best sign that we’re doing something right.
At the end of the day, MightyB Embroidery isn’t just about stitching a logo—it’s about helping businesses show off their brands and look good doing it, and we love being part of that!
