We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Pierman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nicole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My first book, A Patriot’s Tale, took about twelve years to finish because I started it when I was twelve years old. I had no idea what I was doing, but that’s to be expected when you’re so young, so I don’t regret taking that long to finish it. I graduated from high school with the book halfway done and went on to college. I was excited, pumped up, ready to move forward with my life. but it didn’t work out the way I thought it would. Lots of things happened all at once, which ultimately ended up in me having a mental breakdown before I got the help I needed. Only then did I finish the book.
I must add that it is NOT the same book as it originally was. It went through 7 drafts. I was not the same person I was when I started it, and there were so many things wrong with the earlier drafts that I didn’t mind all its renditions; I just wanted a solid story with compelling characters and a plot that made sens, which I did. It just took over a decade!
I’m proud of myself for not giving up because my first book’s published on Amazon. It still does pretty well considering it’s nearly 4 years old, not to historical fiction trends anymore, and a standalone novel.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been writing since I was a child without much prompting on anyone’s part other than lovely words of encouragement from teachers and family members. I write poetry, historical fiction, historical fantasy, and now urban fantasy under another name, Nicole Brona. I have self-published 4 poetry books, 3 standalone novels, and I am currently working on my urban fantasy series which will be 6 books unless fans ask for more.
When I’m not writing, I’m either reading, hiking, baking, or active on my YouTube channel.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is fairly simple and that’s to share my stories and the worlds in my head. I want to have fun but also be a small business owner. Sometimes, that can be difficult, but when that happens, I remind myself why I’m writing and putting my books out there and it’s to make others happy.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I really loved reading the following: On Writing by Stephen King, Take Your Pants Off by Libbie Hawker, and Dear Writer, Are You Intuitive? by Becca Syme.
Regarding programs about marketing and branding, I love being part of Bryan Cohen’s Ad School. Any and all questions are answered in a timely manner and you get to know the coaches, which make it personal instead of purely professional.
