We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Nelson-Stovall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
My social media accounts started as personal accounts and later transitioned to business accounts I manage. At the time, volunteering as a creative for my church inspired me to be intentional about what I shared. I wanted my accounts to be a resource for healthy skin tips while sharing who I am as a professional esthetician. I decided to transition from a personal to a business profile because I didn’t want my pages to be filled with invaluable content. I wanted to create a space where clients and potential clients can engage, gather information, and receive answers to their skin concerns. Social media should be fun, light-hearted, and reflect the stories you want to share creatively.

Nicole, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a licensed esthetician, educator, and founder of Nicole Nelson Beauty. I entered the beauty industry as a freelance makeup artist and became an esthetician in 2012. I specialize in custom skin treatments and face and body waxing for men and women. My mission is to provide clients with a nurturing experience while using the power of beauty to magnify confidence through healthy skin practices. I’m so proud of my impact on my clients’ lives by cultivating authentic relationships and helping them feel confident in their skin. Outside my beauty studio, you can catch me at local pop-up events, my classes, private spa parties, and other client-focused events where I like to build a community around wellness and beauty.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategies for growing your clientele are consistency, creativity, and keeping things fresh. Every service-based business requires constant clientele growth and maintenance to survive. So, I like offering limited-edition retail and monthly beauty offers to keep my clients excited.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my clients through social media and email marketing. I also like to contact them by phone or text and check in with them on a personal level to create a genuine relationship. Whether I’m sending funny memes, recommending a restaurant, or simply networking, I like to show my clients that I genuinely care and value our relationships outside of a transaction.
