We recently connected with Nicole Milburn and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I had a few defining moments when it came to stepping into my career path. The most impactful moment being connections and opportunities that arose with the launch and release of my poetry book, “Does This Make Me A Witch?”.
My one hundred and fifty page poetry collection in a nutshell is a raw collection of poems about my life in which I was feeling unmatched, untapped and unfulfilled. In that collection also lies poems of me realizing what it was that I DID want for my life, sexually, spiritually and emotionally. I ultimately believe this step was the beginning of me manifesting the life I truly desired. It felt like the vulnerability and clarity I shared in my poetry allowed me to begin creating the life I wanted. They say you have to write things down to make them reality and it truly felt like that was the epitome of my life in that moment. In some ways it felt like my poems were coming true!
Once I published the poetry collection I started getting some attention. It felt like I had given the universe something powerful, unique and special, and the universe was giving me many things back in return. I landed an interview with About That Life podcast regarding my magical book of poetry. At the conclusion of that interview I was offered a position to cohost the podcast! From there, being our podcast audience was mostly women, it felt like a sign from the universe that it was time to launch my women’s coaching business. The rest was history! I finally put to professional use, my certification in Cosmic/Sacred Sexuality. I launched my women’s coaching business known as Desire Different, where I teach women about Sacred Sexuality and help them to discover their true orgasmic potential through a sacred sex practice, divine femininity and education about the woman’s Enhanced Sexual Response system.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Even though it almost seems like poetry is my first passion, it’s really just one of many. As it turns out, my biggest passion in life is actually sex and femininity. Let me fill you in.
There was a time in my life where my sex practice was extremely unfulfilled. And as a young woman I heard about this terrifying statistic that something like 75% of women were not orgasmic. For many, many years when I started my sex practice, that was my truth. I was not orgasmic at all.
So a few years down the line I fell into a practice of celibacy due to my dissatisfaction with what my intimate life had become. I was feeling unmatched, uncovered and somewhat unappreciated. So basically, I tapped out of dating, sex, all of it.
I practiced something like twenty two months of celibacy during that particular time. When I decided to start dating again I was seeing sex and intimacy through a different lens because I had this idea that I wanted to receive so much more from it. From that point forward I was much more selective about my partners as well as how I wanted to receive my intimacy. So long story short, during that “renewing/realigning” time of my life my sex practice had evolved into an actual satisfying experience. My body was alive, my orgasms were even more alive and I was finding satisfaction here! But I was having a huge curious moment….I wondered, how I could go from “non-orgasmic” to having what I now know to be an “Enhanced Orgasmic Consciousness”.
In my personal world, the only thing that made sense for me was that it was the new energy I was bringing to my sex practice. Once I realized women can go from one end of the orgasmic spectrum to the other, I was hooked. I knew I had to help other women understand their sexual practices in a more full spectrum way.
In my coaching business Desire Different I teach woman one on one or in group settings (parties, ladies nights etc, virtual and in person) in full depth about the concept of sacred sexuality and what it takes to re-educate yourself about sex and the many types of female orgasms.
I work with women who are hoping to change, enhance or rediscover their own sex practice. Many women that I work with have unfortunately learned about sex from the porn industry. In my coaching, we unlearn that, we liberate the shame around sex and we empower ourselves and our intimate practices. We learn what it takes to be more open to experiencing better sex, more orgasmic sex and in some cases, the best sex of our lives! And we do all this through information, education and conversation only. No parts of my coaching work is hands on.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most important part of me growing my clientele is creating a safe space and allowing women to feel that they can trust me. My platforms for this are my podcast and the content I share on my social media. I kind of sort of bare all!
In the personal, sacred, intimate work that I do, I have found that some women have a difficult time being open about their intimate experiences. By leading the conversation with my story first, it allows me to feel real to my clients. They see me as a woman that had a specific sexual experience and that I decided to change that and also that my plan was effective. I’ve been told that it allows clients to see me as someone like them and not just a woman with a business.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back I would most certainly choose this line of work again. At a point in time I did consider doing the Sex Therapist route but what I soon realized was that I would be working under an umbrella. I realized I would have a cap and someone else dictating my curriculum and the way I could solve people’s problems. Being a Sacred Sexuality coach under my own business allows me the freedom to be the true creative I am. It allows me to tie in ancient studies and research from the history of sacred sex. These studies are a big contributor to my coaching work.
