We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Marie Quinn recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nicole Marie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

When I was a teenager, I dreamed about being a professional singer. I also loved playing the piano & songwriting. I got busy with life, college & work so I ended up taking an extended break from music. In my late 40s I began singing, playing the piano & songwriting again. It was very rewarding & therapeutic to have the joy of music back in my life. In Spring of 2023, I decided to finally pursue my passion. With the encouragement of friends, I had the courage to take the huge risk of shutting down my business & plunging straight into becoming a full-time musician. Time was of the essence so I launched my brand new career with minimal knowledge & experience. But where I was lacking, I made up for it with passion, hard work, positive thinking & the motivation to succeed. I took away my safety net, which in turn forced me out of my comfort zone. This helped me grow & accelerate quickly with my progress. Taking the risk was well worth it! I’m now having the time of my life doing what I love. I started out as a soloist performer & I’ve recently started collaborating with other musicians in duos & trios. I’m currently working on a variety of new projects including songwriting, recording & a full band show. I thank God every day for all the blessings He has given me. My perseverance combined with a wonderful support system of friends has allowed me to achieve my lifelong dream!

Nicole Marie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My love for music began at a young age. It brought me joy to listen, dance & sing along. I am blessed beyond measure to be able to share my talents & love for music with others. I am a singer, pianist & songwriter with a wide vocal range and diversity of styles from sultry to powerhouse. My list of genres include Blues, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Pop, Country, Classics & Originals. I like to take songs & completely revamp them with a new twist. I give my listeners some familiarity combined with an element of surprise. I’m also continuing to add more original songs. My unique show keeps people engaged & wondering what I’m going to do next. I’m most proud of the moments where I feel & see the connection with my audience. Music brings us together & takes us to a wonderful place in our minds & hearts. And I’m so grateful to be able to what I love for a living.  

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Being able to share my passion & love for music with others is so wonderful! Knowing my talents bring joy & music therapy to others is very rewarding. The experience of connecting with my audience in a live show is amazing! It motivates me to keep growing with my skills. And it encourages me as a songwriter!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal of songwriting is one of the most powerful driving forces in my creative journey. Being able to express feelings through music is something that I cherish. Creating the best melody that pairs well with the right lyrics to represent a particular feeling or experience can sometimes be a challenge. But when it finally happens, it’s magical! The ability to create something so unique from your own perspective while providing familiarity to others who can relate & connect is an incredible achievement . I am excited about enhancing my skills & continuing my journey as a songwriter. Knowing that I’m able to help others heal through the power of music is something very near & dear to my heart.
