Nicole, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

I moved to Florida with no friends, family or career in 2023. Coming to Florida was me running away from my old life. I didn’t like where I was, who I was, or what I was doing. So I picked a spot on the map near the beach and took off.

I landed here with a few goals: figure out who I am, quit drinking, have a career by 30, and never get stuck in my old ways. So far I have fully succeeded in these goals.

Within 6 months of Florida living, sound healing presented itself to me. The ocean called and I answered. Sunshine Sound Waves flooded my brain and I immediately invested in a set of crystal bowls. I started reading everything I could find on sound frequencies and how to legally practice sound healing in the state of Florida. Turns out the state of Florida requires a massage license (which most practitioners don’t know or obtain) or a become an ordained minister (the easy way). Information I kept in the back of my mind but didn’t jump on quickly because I didn’t know what was going to unfold here.

I began offering free sound baths on the beach. I wanted to share this amazing healing modality with everyone, especially those with empty pockets. I knew all too well what it was like to be desperate for healing and mental health assistance but have no way to obtain it because bills came first. My goal was to open this sacred space for healing where there was no pressure or reasons to skip out on yourself, and money holds a lot of us back.
I started making events on Facebook printing flyers, and hoping for the best. My first official sound bath had 2 attendees. And so it began. Week after week more and more beautiful souls began to show up, sometimes upwards of 50 smiling faces surrounded me on the beach. What a dream!

After months of successful, weekly sound baths, that minor detail of needing to be a licensed massage therapist kept creeping back into my mind. At first I tried to talk myself out of it.. “no one else around here has one”, “I’ll be fine, no one cares”, “a massage license doesn’t say anything about my skills as a sound healer”… those thoughts weren’t challenging enough for me. I signed up for massage school December 2024 with 1 intention: to do things the “right” way.
My absolute love for body work quickly developed. I graduated, received my license and had over 30+ hours of extra training in Thai Massage by September 2025. I was busy!

I began sharing with my sound bath clients that massage was underway. Slowly bringing in curious clients to experience sound and massage combined. 1 by 1 my small sound business began to expand. Yet something still felt like it was missing. I had been craving energy work on a deeper level than sound and massage combined for a while at this point but I kept pushing it off.

I then sought out reiki, at first just as the receiver. Though, the desire in me kept growing and growing. I finally ripped the bandaid off and signed up for a level 1 and 2 attunement. This was the missing piece!

Starting January 2026, Sunshine Sound Waves began to offer full mind, body, soul rebalance sessions. Massage-Reiki-Sound.

Growing a business isn’t easy. I have spent countless hours marketing for myself, donating sounds to school fundraisers, doing last minute workshops to fill in where someone was lacking, facilitating at retreats, hours and hours of racing thoughts on how to grow, attending markets and expos and hundreds of free sound baths for the community, and making myself as flexible as possible because it can’t all be done in one place.

I now have a career I am deeply passionate about. I have a consistently growing business that I’m very proud of. And most importantly, I am the woman I want to be in this life. My business isn’t just a business, it is my lifestyle.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a massage therapist and a reiki+ sound practitioner. It all started as a whisper from the ocean one day as I was contemplating my life and what I was supposed to be doing next. I knew I couldn’t wait tables my whole life and I had already told myself if I was still waiting tables at 30 I failed. So I stared at the waves and waited for the voice that answered with Sound healing. Sound healing was the first step in the ladder that lead me to massage and reiki.

I now offer a unique combined experience brining all 3 modalities together for a full mind and body reset.
This is a blissful and powerful session for your nervous system and getting your mind and body out of flight or fight and into rest and digest.

I am also trained in Vedic Thai Bodywork. A beautiful massage modality that includes deep stretching and long pressure holds to help open the body and release stored trauma.

Recently I have created my very first product. Reiki Room sprays- perfect for clearing spaces, meditation and refreshing your space.

At Sunshine Sound Waves, I provide a unique experience for each individual that comes through my door. Each of us are divinely different and need to be treated as such. My goal is to help you feel safe, secure and comfortable in your body, meeting you exactly where you’re at through sound, touch and energy.

Not only am I available for 1 on 1 experiences, I am also available for corporate events, private parties, markets, expos, retreats, etc. Recently, spa themed Bach parties have been a favorite of mine! A full body pampering for you and your girls right before your special day.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I was living in Colorado in a terrible situation. One morning I woke up with the desire to not be miserable anymore. I absolutely could not live this way for one more second. So I packed up my car with everything I could fit in it, including my 2 kitties and left all that I had known behind.
I landed in Florida a few months later with no friends, family, or job, no support, no one to fall on, just me and my kitties and a desire for a new life.
I got a job as a waitress in a little Italian restaurant in Daytona Beach. I was in Florida for 3 weeks before I experienced my first hurricane. The roof collapsed, and I was out of a job before I had a chance to make any bill paying money. The credit card bills were growing, I didn’t have a job and I didn’t like Daytona. So I took a leap and headed to Jax.

In 6 months, I left my abuser in Colorado, moved in with my dad in Oklahoma, left my dad, moved into a rotting apartment in Daytona, got out of my lease in Daytona by using big words to a slummy slumlord and moved to Jax with piling credit card bills.

Now, this is a very long story put into few words. I worked harder than I’ve ever worked on myself, I took huge leaps of faith to change my life, I took risks and spent lots of time in the negative. And I did come out on top. This is the best my life has ever been. This is the happiest I’ve ever been. And that decision on June 25, 2023 to leave and never look back was the first step in the ladder to my success for a better life which simultaneously created a career that I am deeply passionate about.
