Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nicole Kerkeni. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nicole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The corporate world gets us stuck in this mindset that we have this ladder that we need to climb. The higher we are on this ladder determines our success but I want to challenge what the definition of success is. Most people think success is a title or lots of money but what if success was based on your happiness ? I want to encourage people to look within themselves for happiness and to provide them the tools to help heal themselves.
Nicole, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was living a very unfulfilled life being self employed and working crazy hours to achieve this “success” everyone was after. I went and seen a psychic medium and she was so accurate it was scary. She knew about my situation without me even telling her and she made comment that one of my relatives that had pasted on said “I was an old soul like a witch.” I definitely did not feel like a witch and I was not practicing witchcraft but after that appointment I found myself in the new age section of the book store and I picked up a book on crystal healing.
This was the first big awakening I had. I realized through this book that I had been collecting crystals for years, since I was 5 years old. This book had lit a fire in me and I was thirsting for more knowledge and a community to resonate with. However being in a small town my options were very limited. I was inspired to start my own crystal shop as a branch off from my current business which was a beauty salon so that I could create the community I was after. What started off as one small shelf turned into a multi-shelf unit and my crystals were thriving until Covid hit.
I have expanded to include other spiritual items and I launched online to combat the closures. I continue to look for new ways to expand so that everyone feels as though there is something for them. This has lead me to get certified in reiki which I will be launching in January of 2023. Reiki is an incredibly powerful healing modality and I am so grateful have been able to experience its healing powers and now be able to offer it for others too.
Through crystals and reiki you can quite literally change your life. You can achieve a deep healing and through becoming more aware and spiritual you start to look at life much more differently. The more aware you be come of one healing modality the more you start to learn about others and they really all go hand in hand. From mediation you can incorporate crystals, from crystals you can balance your chakras, from chakras you can learn about reiki healing and so on.
Often times I get people that say it’s just a bunch of woo woo and none of it works, but I always tell them that if they believe it will work or help them then it will. The power of the placebo effect is very real and at the end of the day if laying down for a rest while getting reiki or carrying a beautiful rock helps you then you’re already doing better than what you were before you started. Once you believe in it and start doing the research and work yourself I promise your life will change.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Knowledge. Knowledge is power and you have to know your products, services and business inside and out. You will get people that will come to you that have no idea about anything you offer, it may be the first time they have investigated it and they will ask you questions, The more you know and the more information you can provide them the more reliable you will appear. I find that when your are knowledgeable that your knowledge will sell the product vs trying to pitch a product. People will ask you the questions they need and providing an honest and passionate answer creates a relationship with your customer. It’s important that you make sure your clients and customers don’t feel like they are your walking paycheque but rather a friend to be made and you are someone they can reply on and trust for information or direction.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I find packaging is very key. Your clients want to feel as though they are special and there a small things that you can do to achieve that. I always hand pack each order myself. I add a few small “thank you gifts” and I always add a hand written note for them. Each note I try to make different and I change my thank you gifts often. I always have my DMs open and check my social media regularly to make sure that anyone asking me questions is able to effortlessly. I don’t have anyone running my social media because I prefer to chat with my clients one on one. I follow quite a few of my frequent clients on social media so that I can communicate with them and engage in their content as well. This helps build a relationship outside of your business.
