Reflecting on my entrepreneurial journey, I can’t help but think about how I would have started my business sooner if I had known how and where to begin. My deep-seated passion for event planning has been a constant throughout my life, nurtured by the incredible example set by my mother.
In my formative years, I witnessed my mother’s adeptness in orchestrating numerous community events. Her knack for planning and execution was so remarkable that people frequently sought her expertise for their own events. Inspired by her success, I decided to follow in her footsteps.
My journey officially kicked off in the early 2000s when I started assisting friends with the planning of their weddings. The positive feedback and awe from those events solidified my belief that event planning was not just a task but my true calling. In 2007, I took the leap and established my business, initially named Magical Creations, alongside Ms. Irizarry.
Relocating to the DMV marked a new chapter in my professional life, prompting me to venture into a fresh identity, La Fete Xpressions. As the years unfolded, I embraced growth and transformation, ultimately rebranding my business to its current name, On Your Big Day.
Looking back, I acknowledge that the lack of resources initially held me back. If I had the means, I would have undoubtedly started my venture earlier. However, despite the challenges, I am immensely grateful for the journey and the experiences that have shaped my business. Every twist and turn, rebranding, and evolution have contributed to the success and resilience of On Your Big Day.

In my line of work, I specialize in providing comprehensive Décor Services, Event Planning, and Rentals. My role is to address a spectrum of needs for clients, ranging from the simplest requests, such as renting chairs and tables, to orchestrating elaborate events for gatherings of 300 to 500 people. I offer a one-stop solution, extending beyond the core services to include valuable recommendations for caterers, DJs, and other crucial elements of event planning.
What sets me apart in the industry is my unwavering commitment to solving problems, regardless of their size. Whether it’s a minor request or a grand event, I approach each challenge with dedication and enthusiasm. Notably, my proudest achievement lies in the exceptional customer service I provide. Going above and beyond is not just a motto for me; it’s a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
I take pride in not merely meeting but surpassing the needs of my clients. Even when they ask for something small, I make it a point to deliver more than they anticipated. This commitment to generosity and excellence is what leaves a lasting impression on my clients. Effectively expanding my client base revolves around two key strategies: leveraging the power of social media and seizing vendor opportunities. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn serve as dynamic channels for broadcasting information, reaching not only local audiences but also extending my presence to diverse geographic areas. By strategically posting across various platforms, I ensure that my services are showcased to a broad and engaged audience.
Additionally, I recognize the significance of email communication in reinforcing my brand and services. Regularly sending emails serves as a quick yet impactful reminder for clients as they navigate their inboxes. This approach not only keeps my offerings fresh in their minds but also provides a convenient way for them to stay informed about the latest developments in my business.

Any advice for managing a team?
Successfully overseeing a team and upholding high morale is a nuanced task that requires adaptability.
