We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Gomes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you’ve thought about whether to sign with an agent or manager?
I approached my agent meeting prepared to impress, but I realized it’s about mutual goals. I’ve come to understand that the agent signing process is an interview for both sides. It’s about ensuring that the relationship will be beneficial and fulfilling for both parties involved. It’s about finding the right fit, where my goals align with the agency’s objectives, and where we can work together towards mutual success. Coming recommended, we were both serious about collaboration. So, as you embark on your journey of signing with an agent, remember that it’s not just about proving your worth—it’s about finding the right match. Approach it as a conversation, an opportunity to discover if this partnership will propel your career forward. And always remember, it’s a two-way street.”
Nicole, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello! I’m thrilled to share my story with you. I’m originally from Brazópolis, Brazil, where my love for the arts started at a young age. From putting on plays with my cousins to performing in school, I knew I had found my calling. In pursuit of my passion, I moved to the state of Rio de Janeiro, where I co-founded the Theater Group “O BANDO.” This journey led me to study in Lisbon, and later to Los Angeles to pursue on-camera acting. It was also in LA that I got to know the Stella Adler Technique and dove deep into it.
During the pandemic, I launched a podcast called “Gesto Comum”, highlighting inspiring stories of social projects. t’s been an incredible journey, and I’m deeply proud of the impact it’s had. In fact, “Gesto Comum” was honored with a nomination for the best non-fiction podcast at the RioWeb Fest awards in 2023.
So, that’s me in a nutshell: an actor, storyteller, and believer in the power of art to bring people together. I’d love for you to join me on this wild ride of discovery and creativity.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to connect with others on a profound level through storytelling and expression. Whether it’s through acting, producing a podcast, or any other form of creativity, I find immense fulfillment in sharing stories that resonate with people and evoke emotion. The opportunity to inspire, provoke thought, and spark conversation through my work is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, seeing the impact that my art has on others, whether it’s bringing joy, comfort, or a sense of belonging, is truly gratifying. Ultimately, being able to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives through the creativity path is what drives me and brings me the greatest joy as an artist.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I recommend the book ‘The Art of Acting’ by Stella Adler. It is a great introduction to her technique, allowing you to gain an inside view to see if it resonates with you before signing up for classes.
