We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Gilmore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
Time management, Time is never on my side I drag when it’s time to get ready to do anything. Luckily I pick up a customer service job where it had a really strict policy with attendance. Which design me to become better at being on time at anything now because I knew I couldn’t lose my job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, my name is Nicole. I am the owner of Lashkiss Eyelashes based in Dallas Texas. I have been a licensed Cosmetologist and Instructor for over ten years and have truly cherished every moment of this rewarding career. I was always drawn to the world of beauty and style. The power that a new look can have to transform your life or to express your individuality is incredible. The ability to use my creativity to give people added confidence is something that I’ve always treasured. My work stands out from the rest of the growls I practice all the time. Even on my daughter, I love just thinking outside of the box by being extremely daring because no one would do it; so I just do it anyways. I am the creator behind the glow lash extensions and know it’s amazing to see almost everyone recreating the looks from my long lash extensions, wispy technique and crazy wild colors, and decals that I will put in between my sets. Being a lash artist is a great outlet for me. I take it very seriously when it involves my work of art. Around the clock I am always coming up with a way to make my content which is another important thing I take seriously my friends and family knows my life evolves around eyelashes. You will be literally drained hearing me speak on it. A tattoo of eyelashes is tattooed on me lol.
Being a Lash Artist is an amazing way to express your creativity and put a little more beauty into this world. Once I started working with lashes, I fell in love. I have been “lashing” for the past 12 years, and it remains something that I truly love to do. This brings me to the other part of my journey that I have become deeply passionate about. I’m thrilled to be able to showcase my work and products around the world. Being an Entrepreneur and getting to do what you love is a rare gift that I am eternally thankful for. It’s been a long journey and this is like the 4 article that I have done with you guys. Thank you Dallas voyage for noticing me and my business again. Take care until next time
-love Nikki.

Great question. Being the goat that I am I learned the backend of the business and to pick the best vendors that I know. I start off with samples if I like I will go from there. But I have several vendors that I work with and I’m very picky so I look for top tier quality. This is a very competitive industry so you always want to be updated on everything that’s new.

I built my audience by staying consistent that is the key. I want to let you know that this didn’t happen over night this have been a long challenging journey but very much rewarding. Long sleepless nights of me working so hard on my craft and brand blood sweat and tears put into this. It’s just very important to stand 10 toes down and show the world what you have and what you love to do!
