We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Frearson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Ideally, we all want more from life. It’s part of human nature to want to have a bigger house, a better car, wealth, love, etc. Why do some people have it all and some don’t? What would be the main difference between those who have it all and those who live wishing to have a life they don’t have? Those who have it all, have a desire to change and are hungry for a change. They take risks.
As a society, the older we get the more comfortable we get being in our comfort zone. Fear of failure can control our life and keep us from taking risks.
We keep missing opportunities and not giving ourselves the permission to succeed because we obsessing over the worst-case scenario or perhaps the reason for a change doesn’t add enough value to our life.
‘If you have enough reasons, you will find a million doors to opportunities and if you don’t, you will find a million excuses to one door’, says Katerina Grishanina- Co-owner of Oaselle Salon.
So why do some of us take risk and some don’t?
When taking a risk, you have to compare the positive and negative outcomes and have a game plan on the negative outcome, accepting it, but have confidence in yourself and have a positive outlook at life. We tend to make decisions from experience.
Nicole Frearson, co-owner of Oaselle Salon in Los Angeles, CA says “I love taking risks! It’s thrilling to me, it’s what wakes me up every morning and inspires me to create new looks for my clients and push forward in my career behind the chair. Oaselle salon is our new born baby!”
Katerina Grishanina and Nicole have been best friends and partnering to open the salon.
“We are both taking a huge risk stepping out of our comfort zone going from a small space with very little overhead to a larger space. We feel confident in this risk because we have each other and the support from our clients.”
Nicole mentions, “For me, taking risks is what takes me to the next level creatively and financially! It’s scary but as soon as I feel that fear, I know I’m on my way to the next level of success!”
Be confident to test your limits, believe in the best, give yourself permission to fail, push yourself out of your comfort zone and be ready for a life experience.

Nicole, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Katerina and Nicole met when Nicole first moved to LA from NY and worked together at Juan Juan salon. “We laugh all the time about how we never said two words to each other for about the first year (most likely because we were focused on building our Career),’ Nicole mentions. ‘We became inseparable when we both decided to transition from working at a salon to working for ourselves and sharing a salon suite!’
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
