We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Devine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole , appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I have been singing since I was four but I REALLY wish I would have started playing guitar when I was younger. There are so many people out there doing amazing things in the music industry that started playing their instruments when they were little kids and they are SO talented now. I wish I would have started as a kid as well. I did not learn how to play guitar until I was in college and I will be the first to admit, I was terrible. Guitar, to me, is a very difficult instrument to learn. It does not come naturally to me. I try my best to make it sound as good as I can.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In October of 2018, I brought a sign to a Keith Urban concert asking to go on stage to sing with him. I never thought he was going to even see my sign, let alone choose me to go on stage with him, but he did. Having the chance to sing to a crowd of over 10,000 people with one of my biggest musical inspirations was life changing. It was the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. Ever since then, I knew I wanted to make my dream of being a paid musician a reality. I have been playing music for bars, restaurants, private parties, weddings, festivals, breweries, wineries, etc. ever since I sang on stage that night with Keith. I absolutely love doing it. I also write and perform original music. I am in the process of working on a new EP.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want a song on the radio. It has always been my dream to have a song that I wrote on the radio. I would prefer to be the one singing it as well.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love how relatable music is. A song can bring people together that otherwise have nothing in common. Music is healing.
