We recently connected with Nicole Derderian and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My biggest risk was taking my entire business online! I started coaching in 2020 and from Jan 2020-Jan 2023 I always had other “main sources” of income (medical assistant, nannying, in-person trainer). The number one reason why I always failed to grow: I was afraid to go “all-in.” In Jan 2023, I had the experience and support to finally make the jump to working for myself and only myself. This shift was the game changer – growing my team of athletes to numbers I dreamed of and tripling my income in one year! I feel like this is just the beginning of something big and I am finally not afraid to say that!
Nicole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi! My name is Nicole and I am the owner of Limitless Athletics LLC. I am finishing up my Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics and my number one passion is supporting others in their journey towards becoming their best selves mentally and physically. I help any & all individuals meet their health, physique, and performance goals. Whether it’s to fix internal health, feel more confident, or step on a bodybuilding stage, I’m your girl! My coaching protocols are very detailed so that no stone is left unturned and I take a collaborative approach that allows my clients to be very involved in their own plan. I can promise to help anyone reach their goals as long as they WANT change and are willing to give themselves the time that is needed. What sets me apart from all other coaches is my ability to meet individuals where they are at and set realistic expectations and goals to help them get to where they want to be. My goal is to continue to build a community of individuals that are all working towards positive change! Community and connection are key pieces to the success puzzle. I am super excited to continue to grow as a coach and help make a positive impact on everyone that I connect with!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Unfortunately, sometimes we have to learn the hard way and that’s okay! The best lessons can come from some of the lowest times. When you are at the bottom, at least you know that there’s no where but up. A big shift occurred during Q2 and Q3 of 2023 that affected by entire business. I was counting on someone else’s business plans to work out in order to keep processes going as usual. However, when things didn’t work out on their end, and everything needed to shift, I felt so lost and confused. I didn’t want to be a business owner in this moment. The one thing that kept be going was my clients and my love for them. I went on auto-pilot mode – rebranded, created a new website, set up back end systems, etc. I wish I could go back and give that Nicole a giant hug and say, “Don’t be sad. This is just the beginning. You have no idea what’s to come!” After this big shift, everything changed for the better! I finally stepped into who I wanted to be and how I wanted to do things. I could have given up during the four-ish months of feeling like I was spinning my wheels, not cut out for this job. But, I chose to keep going. I chose to keep showing up even if I didn’t see anything in return. I chose to be resilient.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For me, the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is caring about people, not just their goals. I have a special relationship with each of my clients that helps foster trust. This in turn leads to great referrals. I also started to see major growth when I began showcasing more of my client’s physical transformations on my social media pages. People love visuals, so this helped show others that I am serious about what I can do!
