We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Chan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
I do take vacations, for both mental breaks, family bonding time, and to get inspired. I have a wonderful team that I trust to take care of my businesses while I’m away. Setting up those systems and the people in place didn’t happen overnight, but it was important for my mental health to be able to have the businesses not rely on me 100%.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Boston photographer and a videographer. I specialize in weddings (https://www.nicolechanphotography.com) and commercial & advertising work (https://www.nicoleloeb.com).
I’m also an escape room designer at a company my husband and I co-founded, Trapology Boston (https://www.trapologyboston.com)

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I really like “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. It helps me understand drive, motivation, and practice strategies.

How did you build your audience on social media?
In a world where things are a little too polished, I try to be as real as possible on social media. I don’t use AI to write my captions. I don’t hire a service to do my posts or stories. It’s just me. My Instagram stories are snapshots into my life and my work, and I think my followers appreciate the candid nature about me.
