Nicole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 39 year old single mother of two young boys, aged 8 and 5. After being in a controlling and abusive relationship for 23 years, I made the brave decision to leave my abuser 3 years ago. Since then, I have been working hard to rebuild my life and create a stable future for my children. In April of 2022, I opened my own small cleaning business Mom With a Mop Cleaning Service, LLC. This venture was not just about making a living but also about proving to yourself that I could succeed on my own. My goal is to expand my business and eventually develop my own line of effective, green cleaning products. My journey is one of resilience, determination, and empowerment both for myself and my boys. Beyond my business, I also aspire to start a non-profit organization to support men, women, and children who are in or have escaped from domestic violence situations, showing my commitment to helping others who have faced similar challenges.


What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Cleaning started as a side hustle, something I could do to bring in extra income while maintaining flexibility to care for my children. Over time, I realized that there was a real demand for my services and that I had a knack for the business. I started to build a reputation for quality work and reliability, and my client base began to grow. Seeing the potential to turn this into something more substantial, I decided to take the leap and officially launch my own cleaning company in April 2022.


Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word-of-mouth referrals, driven by my commitment to providing excellent service. Satisfied customers have been key in spreading the word about my cleaning business, leading to new opportunities and steady growth.
Additionally, I have leveraged my personal network and community connections, reaching out to friends, family, and acquaintances who could benefit from my services. Offering personalized service, being reliable, and maintaining high cleaning standards have all contributed to building trust with my clients.
By consistently delivering quality work and exceeding customer expectations, I have created a strong foundation of loyal clients who are eager to recommend my services to others.
