We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nicole Beauchamp. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nicole below.
Nicole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think success boils down to the power of confidence and belief in one’s self. It’s by no means an easy thing to come by, especially in a judgmental world where everyone is a harsh critic. But if you love something with your whole heart and have a passion for it, and you believe that whatever you’re offering provides value to the world, you will already have taken the first step toward success. For my entire life I was enthralled with the paranormal and knew I wanted to work in the industry in some capacity but I didn’t know how, until I received an offer to write paranormal books. This decision changed the trajectory of my life for the better. People did not always believe in me and I certainly got a lot of flack for being involved in a rather unconventional field, but being able to do what I love was motivational enough for me not to listen to those people and continue down the path of following what felt right to me. The moral of the story is not to ever let anyone dictate your future. You deserve to discover your passion(s) if you haven’t already and pursue them as much as you want to. As long as you’re doing that, that’s a win in my book.
Nicole, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a little girl I had an obsession with horror movies and all things paranormal. I like to joke that I was born spooky. I went to college and obtained two degrees because that was the standard for my family, but always desired to work in the paranormal. I started my own team, The Tri-City Ghost Hunters Society, in 2009. The paranormal was literally all I ever thought about. I’d count down the days to lectures I would be putting on or investigations I’d be participating in while in class. It was my first passion and love. After my degrees didn’t work out for me I enrolled in massage therapy school. It was at that time I got recognized by Arcadia Publishing to write for their Haunted America series. To date I have written 3 books for them and the rest as they say, is history. I guess you just never really know who could be watching you and following your passions unfold. I have since presented all over the state, found my books in some really prestigious institutions, been offered some really cool opportunities, been fangirled over by legitimately famous people who loved my work (I still cannot believe this is my life) and just overall have watched my life go from rather mundane to extremely exciting in a matter of a couple years. And believe me when I say I am thankful for every bit of support I get!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to inspire others really means a lot to me. When I was younger I had my head always filled with a lot of doubt by people who told me I couldn’t do this or they, and I wanted to prove to myself that I could live out my passions despite whatever someone else had to say to me or whatever opposing opinion they held. We get one life and I want to show people that their dreams are valid and worth pursuing. The only thing ridiculous about your dreams is not trying to pursue them!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think just the idea of bettering myself and my craft, as well as coming one step closer to finding out the truth about what happens when we die. To me, it’s fascinating. I just never want to stop bettering myself…ever!
