We recently connected with Nicole Ashley Allen and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nicole Ashley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is to do one thing and that is to capture happiness within a photo. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would be a photographer. I owned a camera just for the simple purpose of documenting great times with my friends and I. That was enough for me. It took a friend to bring to my attention that I was really good and that I could make a living with taking photos.
Being able to capture celebrations, some of the best moments of life and to capture that joy with my camera is the best thing in life. I am able to create visual memories that will live on and on and on. To be passed down and shared for generations to come. Therefore, the happy times last..forever and ever.
Every human being lives to be happy. It brings me happiness to see and hear the emotion from others that appreciate my artwork. To see the tears in someone’s eyes from the excitement of seeing their photos is what I live for.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
You know, sometimes…Corporate America just doesn’t work out! We are taught that we must do good in school, go on to college and pick a job that’s going to satisfy our financial needs. After doing all of this and becoming a counselor at Wayne State University, one day…I was laid off.
Not knowing where my life would lead to afterwards and feeling down about what my next move would be, I decided to purchase a camera and just document the fun times between my friends and I. I took photos when my friends and I would play cards, cook together, go on vacation together, when we went bowling and so many other things. Eventually, my friend said, “You’re good. You could really do this professionally.” Later that year, she sent me my first client and I’ve been in business ever since.
Over the years, I’ve practiced several genes of photography. Nothing moves my soul more than LOVE. I absolutely enjoy capturing love stories. Engagement and Wedding photos are my specialty! I have created thousands of images that include but are not limited to family photos, boudior, branding photos, headshots and event photos.
If a client is uncomfortable behind my lens, I can always help them feel comfortable. In addition, I can pose them to look their very best.
I feel that my personality is what draws people near me. It is my mission to create a happy space so that all of my clients feel beautiful and to be confident that the photos I’m taking will be enjoyed.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is providing a professional product at a cost that is affordable to all. Furthermore, connecting with clients, relating to my clients when it comes to everyday life and giving them the human side of me each time allows for them to see that I’m just like them.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is witnessing the joy in someone’s eyes when they first see a photo that I’ve taken of them. To know that my talent has brought someone happiness is the best reward!
