We recently connected with Nicole Adefuye and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nicole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
My first advice is always RESTART! No matter how many times you have to go back to the drawing board do it! At the end of the day no one else is going to be able to bring your thoughts and ideas to the forefront like you!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Check In Gang really started as a way of my best friend and I holding ourselves accountable to workout daily and it grew into a whole group of women & men who are now pushing each other to reach their fitness goals.
The idea of getting to the gym and posting a pre/post workout selfie and tagging others is used as a motivation tactic. I know for me if I’m feeling lazy one day and get a tag on social media from a friend or whomever in the gym. I’m going to be like “oh let me get my ass up” it’s gotten to the point where people have told me that they almost feel guilty when they don’t go or don’t tag. Which I’ve always found funny because I feel the same way too at times.
What sets me apart from others is that I’m always authentically myself. & super relatable. There’s no gimmick. Ask any of my followers, what you see is what you get with me.
I began creating workout gear in 2021. I’m a huge believer in “you look good, you feel good, you do good.” Honestly for a lot of women the most important part of the workout is the outfit. As of now, we have 2 piece sets and bodysuits. All available on colesmerch.shop
The page @checkingang on Instagram is full of workouts videos and fitness tips Right now the brand is still growing, I have a lot of plans for it. I even have a workout and meal plan combination that will be dropping hopefully this summer.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
For me a lot of my customers/clients come from twitter. I just feel like twitter is the top tier app out of all the social media platforms. On Instagram everyone is trying to “keep up with an image they’ve created” where as twitter, everyone is just like one big family. It takes one post to be retweeted by the right person and your interactions and sales go up. As far as brand loyalty, my personality and openness is how I keep customers/clients
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Although I’m still building my audience, as I’ve previously stated my best advice is to stay true to what you know and who you are. People will gravitate towards that and want to genuinely hear what you have to say and support what you’ve got going on. Don’t try to ride a “wave” and don’t jump on board with an idea just because it’s what’s trending right now. Those things change on a daily. So if you can just find what you love and be able to share that with others all while making a profit. I say, go for it!
