We were lucky to catch up with Nicolas Robin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicolas, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I grew up in the west of France between the countryside and the sea.
In my family no one knew anything about the film industry. I always loved to tell stories, share them with an audience, I recall doing small theater shows in my neighborhood when I was under 10, but still knew nothing about acting.
When I was 11, a famous French director was looking for the lead in his tv movie and did an audition in my school.
They were looking for a kid that could be a little demon (sort of). So when the casting director showed up, in my class, the teacher said :”ok this one, this one, that one…and maybe this one”.
I was the “maybe this one”
I booked the job immediately and starting to do movies,
I got an agent right away and started auditions…but they were in Paris so I had to travel a whole day for it.
Meaning I couldn’t do many auditions as it was a lot of money to travel there with my mum.
Luckily enough I booked most of them!
I loved my first experience but my parents told me it’s not a job so I pursued school at the same time and got a degree in International trade.
Then I booked the lead in a feature that went to the “Mostra of Venise Film Festival”, Toronto, São Paulo, Pusan…
Got signed by the biggest French agent at the time and then moved to NYC to study with Strasberg.
All these experienced made me love acting even more.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got in this business as a kid, I’ve been lucky enough to work with amazing actors (such as Carrie Ann Moss, William Fichtner, Chris O DOWD, Ben Foster, Bryan Greenberg….) and directors (Justin Haythes, Stephen Frears, Marion Hansel, ..).
One of the things I’ve been super proud of has been to be able to master so many different accents (American, British,Polish, Danish, Russian, German…)especially being French. It’s been 10 years of work but it’s been very rewarding.
My dream has always been to work with International teams and I’ve a strong passion for American cinema, British cinema, Korean as well… and in the past few years I’ve been able to work on 3 international tv shows (CROSSING LINES (NBC) THE SERPENT QUEEN (STARZ) THE REUNION ( AMAZON ITV)… and a couple of feature film “THE PROGRAM” Stephen Frears, BEEZEL (Aaron Fradkin)…
My other passions are animals and especially horses and dogs and I’m currently producing a movie about a very famous horse and his rider..

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having this capacity to give something so unique to people, a performance, a text, a script, a movie…it’s a way to express yourself giving a gift to an audience.
For example, I m producing right now and my first thought was, “what’s gonna be my gift to this world” what kind of mark am I gonna leave.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Eating clean, every day, working out every day, having a string discipline in every sides of my career.
Never giving up even if you get a lot of NOs.
